Hello there! I just registered on these forums, and I'm new to the world of geckos!

I acquired mine, Douglas, a little over two weeks ago, on the 13th. He just turned 6 months old on the 26th!

According to the breeder, he's an Albinos Tangerine Jungle Het Raptor, though with my limited knowledge of phases, I don't see it.

He's an awesome guy, very friendly already!

Here are some pics:

Welcome to Gf! Your gecko is very handsome. His front legs seem to be showing some signs of MBD though. If you give him some calcium it should get them back to normal in no time! :)

Robin, I don't think he knows what Albinism looks like in Leopard Geckos, because the albinism in mammals is so different (white, with red eyes, etc).

JFrosty, your gecko is indeed an Albino, and your best bet is to research morphs and have a look at other albinos to compare your little one.

Jeanene is right, looks like your little guy has signs of MBD, I'd get him some liquid calcium, and powder form and make them available to him in his enclosure 24/7. I'd also dust his bugs (whatever you're feeding) and maybe look at getting a multivitamin for him. You can find most of this stuff at common pet stores.

Oh my! That MBD looks pretty bad. Please make sure that you do what everyone is suggesting with calcium. It is imparative for this little guys survival. They need calcium on a routine basis to avoid the horrible MBD.

Besides that, he is adorable. Tremper jungle all the way! He is a very nice one at that, he will be much much better once the MBD is reversed. Good luck with that. Let us know how he is doing.

Yeah, as I said, I don't know much about phases yet, so thank you for that.

I always dust the crickets I give him, and will get extra calcium this weekend. The breeder also told me his little sister bit his leg when he was young, so that might be a small problem he has, too.

Thank you for such a comforting post. ;)

Only two weeks in and I'm already worried for his survival!

Don't worry though, extra calcium is coming his way tomorrow!

I am dusting the crickets with calcium + D3, but isn't it better to just leave pure calcium in his terrarium?

You are going to get a lot of different opinions on the calcium subject. I dust with calcium with d3 once a week and calcium without d3 every other feeding. I also dust with herpvite multivitamin once a week. In the terrarium I use plain calcium with no d3 in 24/7. Because your gecko seems to be showing signs of MBD you may need to dust every feeding, but I'm not sure because I never dealt with MBD. You may want to post another thread to ask about supplements and MBD. BTW Douglas is very nice.

So we're now in July, and his MBD hasn't got any worse, from the look of it. Actually, looking at pictures from January, it might have gotten a bit better. I have learned that the breeder I got him from didn't even know about MBD (I know, right?) and that's probably the reason why his front legs are this way.

I'm taking great care of him, and he's not showing any sign of not doing well. In fact, just before I went and took pictures of him, he was playing in his plastic plant as usual, trying to go up God knows where!

So is there any way his MBD could actually be cured? I don't mind if he's always going to be like this, since it doesn't look severe, but I'd like to know if he could ever go back to "normal", seeing he's been this way since a very young age.

Thanks!
