I sincerely doubt that.

Large chunks of the member base might, as a result of an unfortunate ignorance or knee-jerk responses to a topic they have not thoroughly considered but I am pretty sure that the owner and moderator staff are more experienced, more educated and would tend to agree with my position.

Simply because someone happens to like one species as their favorite it doesn't automatically follow they they need to be blind to reality.

I can't say it any better than that.

I have to agree. Although the idea of feeding an animal you would normally keep as a pet is offensive to many, the key reason behind the problem with this video is the fact that the person seems to be getting enjoyment out of watching the gecko die, and not in the care of his animal. Feeding any animal to a captive predator is just a part of keeping predatory animals, it is no different from feeding a mouse to a cornsnake or a cricket to a leopard gecko; it is still a predator killing prey to consume. It's nature. Now, I totally agree that the choice of prey in this circumstance is way off, it's unnecessary to feed leopard geckos to snappers, they readily accept other prey items and many will eat prepared food without qualms. The person is feeding a leopard gecko simply to get a rise out of the audience and perhaps indulge some inner need to watch "sentient" creatures die, which is a sign of a mental disorder. Many people who exhibit this sort of behavior go on to harm other human beings, but that's just my personal psychological profiling in effect.
I have also fed leopard geckos to other reptiles, in all cases it's been culls, and to species or individual animals who require/prefer lizards as prey. IMO, it's not cruelty. It's nature. Animals get eaten, both predators AND prey for that matter, and in the case of a gecko that is unfit for a healthy life, better the animal serve a purpose in the "circle of life" than just be euthanized and the body wasted. And I don't morally see a difference between using a "feeder" mouse and a leopard gecko as a food source appropriately, they are both alive, and they both die when eaten. I keep pet rats and I feed rats to my snakes, I don't have a moral issue with it. Predators need to eat just as much as prey animals do.

I DO, however, dislike the reasoning behind this video. It's an unnecessary waste of life, and imo, that's the biggest waste of all.

Yea, I saw in one of the videos he fed a deformed corn snake to his monitor- he does that reptile a favor yet will feed a perfectly healthy gecko to his snapper.

Leos aren't bred and sold to be feeders :{ I'd like to think they hold some sort of dignity in the reptile world.
