Hey, so I have seen some leos being sold as sunglows but they look like they could just be tremper albinos. What differentiates a sunglow from a tremper albino? (And just so we are clear, I am talking tremper lines for the sunglows also)
I am just confused and I am looking for you guys to tell me what I asked above. Thanks!!! :main_yes: :main_thumbsup:

A sunglow is a SHTCT(B) Tremper. It is generally not spotted on the body, and slightly brighter than a "regular" Tremper albino.

+1 When I think of Sunglow I think SHTCT(B) Tremper. Very bright orange and no spots or pattern. Sunglows are a line breed for these characteristics.

No doubt she is a beautiful gecko.

Thank you! so basically a sunglow has brighter color. It can have pattern but should be bright to be classified as a sunglow.
I think my male is a better example of a sunglow. But I love them both and I think they are both really pretty.
Thanks for your answers!! :)

If your gecko is showing a lot of pattern then it really shouldn't be considered a Sunglow. They are defined as a SHTCT Albino - So by the definition of what a SHTCT, it should be lacking pattern on its body also, you can go 1 step further by having a SHTCTB (B standing for Baldy) ... But if your gecko isn't lacking body spots its not a sunglow, its close but its still basically a Tang Albino

Ok. But I am still going to say my two geckos are sunglows... because they are. But thank you for your answer. I can't wait to see what kind of babies they have.

With the amount of patterns on both of those, I really wouldn't consider them Sunglows, the male maybe but that female has too much pattern on her body to be considered a Sunglow... Calling it something that by definition it isn't will not help..

The male has no pattern. The male is definitely a sunglow. The female I guess can be questionable. But I think the babies will look like good sunglows.

If I were you, I would go to leopardgeckowiki.com and research more about the morphs that you have questions about. Also if you are trying to make awesome sunglows, invest in a SHTCTB female with tons of color, breed it to the male "sunglow" you have, incubate all those eggs for female, and then breed back the best looking babies to the male. Then you may be on a better track for getting the Sunglow you are trying to create.

I don't have to do any of that. I looked at the urban gecko website and they have plenty of nice sunglows that have pattern on them. Some even have more pattern than my female. So I am not going to question whether she is sunglow or not. I got what I needed from their website. She has brighter base color than a lot of their patterned sunglows too.

The one in your avatar is a sunglo the other pic you posted is just a tang albino. You can find a nice SHTCTB that is het for tremper. There is so much of these out there that you do not need to line breed this morph anymore. OR just buy another sunglo for the one in your avatar.

You aren't Urban Gecko though, no one knows who you are, so if you are going to try and sell something that is a "Sunglow" you need to try to make it the best that you can.

Ok. But I am just a beginner starting out. I am not going to pay $600 for a breeding pair of the best sunglows. I am going to get two nice sunglows (which i did) and I am going to breed them. I think they are pretty and the babies will also look nice and the babies will be sunglow. Thank you for your answers though! :main_yes:

If one of the pair is just a nicely marked bright albino then the babies WILL NOT be sunglows in the traditional sense that they are suppose to be patternless on the body (head and tail ok but NOT the body). If you breed sub-par representitives of the breed it will be very difficult to produce outstanding examples of the morph with out several years of line breeding the best to the best. I think you might want to test breed the female to a tremper to truly know for sure what she is. Honestly I think if you have several very experienced leo breeders saying it isn't a sunglow that it is advice worth taking.
