Normally by weight for the breeders that ship them out. I don't know how many weight what, but i would assume they're not counting 10,000 them with the.

Sorry Chris... I just couldn't resist being a smart-alec. I see stores that have a graduated measuring tube for different sizes of mealworms and crickets. I feel sorry for the person(s) that had to do all the counting to get those things made!

I don't know how, but someone better teach Petsmart. I was forced to buy some from them since all of my people are out and I had a new fella that was picky. I bought a 100 count and only had about 30 in there. Unbelievable.

have a scale?

I figured everyone would

(using a weight scale in grams)***I usually count out a hundred worms....weigh them say (8 grams)
Then weigh the whole group.(164 grams) Divide by the hundred count.(=20.5) Multiple that answer by 100..=..2050 total worms........will be pretty close if your worms are nearing the same sizes.
And with the "so called" shortage the last time I did it I was short about 400 + on a 2000 order. Upon notification they sent me a full 2000 order. Of course I have already noticed a price increase where I get them.....Only having a little humor with the scanner for meal worms. I remember in my younger days in wood shop......they were always sending new guys to the class to get a board stretcher from the instructor. Take care,,,good gecko-ing. HJ

I actually did count out 100 mealworms and got a total of 8 grams, so I sell 1,000, or 80 grams for $5 locally (when I have extra which I never do during baby season). If the mealworms are small, I throw in a bunch extra. I will not hand count more than 100.

I use a plastic Cat litter scoop with a small mesh in it. It allows the the bedding to fall through but the holes are not big enough to let med-lrg mealies to fall through.
