How do you decide what morphs you're going to work with?

Personal favs?
Popularity?

How do you decide which morphs to mix and match?

Color?
Size?

I dunno.. I'm just doing some thinking lately... I'm jsut being curious and nosey.

For me it's Bells and Blizzards...

I liked the looks of Bells more than the other two strains; I became obsessed with Blizzards ever since one was on the cover of a Reptiles Magazine (I think Jan. 2000).

Then I decided a Mack Snow could turn up these morphs several notches so I got a Mack Snow het Bell...

My future interests are to add several different morphs to my Bells such as Red Stripes, Bold Stripes, Jungles, SHTCT, Eclipse, and Patternless. I'm finally crossing my Bells and Blizzards this year as well...

Rigth now I'm breeding what I like. Maybe in a few years something else will pop up that I like and breed that as well.
Well said. One example; Blazing Blizzards aren't a top dollar morph anymore but I'll always have some. They were things of dreams for fifteen years and now we get to hold them in our hands -still blows my mind.

I started to breed what I like 2 years ago. Ironically, I'm in my 3rd year of breeding and I'm not there yet. I wanted to make a hybino from "scratch" --in other words, not by just buying 2 hybinos. Since I 'm limited in the total number of geckos I can accommodate, I try to find projects that I like and that interlock. So, for example, in addition to my hybino project I also have some stripes and tangs including a male red stripe het for albino.

Easy question. I decided that I have to have at least one of each. But Rainwaters always have been and always will be my favorite.

I breed what I like. For me, it is more of a species question, rather than a morph or color question though. Carrot-tails, and Amel. fattails are favorites though!

That's funny, I'll actually be breeding them next year :main_laugh: .

I go with favorites...or things I think might make a cool combo with something else. My favs change pretty often, but that just means more for me! It's easier to ask what I don't like.

I originally bought what I liked and could afford and continue to do that. I don't work with morphs that don't excite me even if I can afford them. I had to make Sunglows from scratch. I also always liked Snows, so when Macks came out I knew I had to have one and work with them. Super Snows were a bonus and I can't wait to produce Super Snow Albinos. I still have a special place for Rainwaters. That was the first Albino strain I purchased and worked with. I will also always try to improve my SHTCTB Leos.

I, like everyone else, buy and breed what I like. And I like the excitement of every baby being different - because they are all special and cool in their own ways. :main_yes:

I decide based on what I like the most and what my girlfriend likes the most. Me personally, I like Mack Snows and Line Bred Snows, so I picked up one of Albey's crosses. My girl friend loves the bright orange Leos so we got her a SHT and a SHTCT.

As for what crosses... I'm just trying lots of different things to see what they all look like.

oops. i never answered my own question. ha

i tend to work with what i like. but it doesn't hurt when other people like them too. ha. and i've tried mixing things just to see what comes out, but i try to make sure the genes are at least compatible. if i know a normal het will be produced, it's just not the same, but they're just as cute.
