I can't grab crickets with tongues...they run too fast...and if I grab one I usually crush it :s... And if I leave crickets in the tank they'll hide under the paper towel

How do you do it?? :main_huh:

Well, I feed mealies so I just grab em and plunk em in. Maybe break a couple legs off so they arent as quick?

Yeah, but io still crush them, lol. And for those of you who leave crickets in the tank, don't they hide under the paper towel?

Haha, do you have big fingers? Maybe hold it down lightly with the tongs, then get the legs off

Most of my adults eat crickets. Most will catch the crickets on their own, but to make it easier, I usually take all the cage furniture out on feeding day for about 20 minutes. I have one tank of leos who aren't good hunters. On feeding day, when I open the side of the tank, they're there waiting. I take a cricket out of my container, hold it by 1 leg, dip it in supplement and put it on the floor in front of them, still holding it by a leg. They usually take turns eating and walk away when they're done.

A good method is to have a cage separate from their home tank that is smaller with no substrate to feed them in. Drop in crickets, drop in gecko, wait for 15 minutes or so, put gecko back in home tank and extra crickets back in the cricket holding cage. I do this (though with roaches) when I'm not hand-feeding (which is easier lately). Hand-feeding or the feeding tank method are also great to make sure that all the geckos in a colony are getting enough food.

i catch the crickets with tongs or my hands if i get to lazy and dont want to chase them for ten minutes. and easier way to it put egg cartin in the cricket tank. let the little bastards hide in there and shake it over you container of powered then put that container in the leos tank.

My cage decorations all have really small areas for crickets to hide, so I take everything out.

And to get the crickets, I just put my hand on the bottom of the cricket cage, slide it along and heard them towards the corner so they have NOWHERE to go but my palm, throw 'em in the bottle I use for dusting, then dump 'em in the cage.

I agree that they stupid crickets will go and hide under my carpet in there but they come out after a little while and my leo snatches them right up. Usually I just throw the crickets in and she'll chase them until she knows they're all gone. I put mealies in a bowl to. :)

The crickets go under the carpet sometimes, but I put some rocks on the parts that bubble the most and it hinders them. For now, Puzzle is good at hunting them, but I'm guessing eventually I'll have to take everything out of the cage before feeding time.

He gets kinda stressed if I take all his stuff out. He likes to hide and pounce. So I just leave them in there, and if he doesn't catch them within 20 minutes, I figure he's not hungry enough to really try anyway, and then put a few mealies in front of his face to see what he eats.

I feed my leo crickets in a seperate container. That way I put her in with the crickets, and what she doesnt eat I can poor back into the cricket keeper, so I dont have to chase them around her cage. The cricket keeper has two black tubes that go into the sides so that the crickets crawl into them and you can just shake them into the container. You can buy it from pets_mart

What i do is take all of the things out of my tank except the repti turf. And there are things that you can buy at a pet shop. they are cricket containers. they have pipes for the crickets to crawl through and all you do is take out the pipes and dump some crickets in. wait until it seems like there not interested(you can tell if they let the crickets go walk right past them) then you can stop. The maximum i let my 2 baby leos eat are 5-6 crickets every other night.

I have this little square plastic container I scoop up some
crix, throw in some dust, shake, cut the back legs off and
drop em in one at a time.
I always make sure they eat the one I drop in before they
get another.
It's a real pain dropping in a whole bunch, and my leo only
eats one!! Then, I have to chase down and catch the rest!

Oh, and I make sure they dont hide :D

I took a piece of paper, rolled it up so that one end is closed and the other is open, then scooped up the crickets and dropped them in the dusting container, then drop them in one by one like nats
