As we all know, caring for our four legged ( or no legged) friends can get expensive! So, what do you do to cover the ever growing costs to keep you scaly friends around?

I'll start, my main job is a server, and bartender. But just to cover those extra costs, I design and draw custom tattoo pieces! Always looking for cricket money! Let me know if you want something designed! :main_thumbsup:

I work as an industrial electrician/machinist. I have been at the same job since 20, going on 10 years in 4 months. I keep my reptile hobby with in my budget. I do not want to have to depend on spare cash to be able to feed my kiddos!

One thing that helps out a lot with being able to afford more mouths to feed is having a self sustaining Dubia roach colony, and a Superworm colony. Not having to buy feeders is a huge help.

Well for me, im only 17 and so i dont pay tax or have any bills to pay... therefore all my pay from my job is spare money. And an appropiate amounts goes towards the leos every month. Next year when i start getting taxed, its going to be harder i suppose.

Selling geckos and supplies helps but doesn't cover it entirely. We are a 2-income family, but also a 2-tuition paying and 1 school-loan paying family so we do it like 12 step: 1 day at a time.

Hey...Im a Cardiac Sonographer:) for a large Hospital/ Cardiology group! I have to keep things within my budget and time allowance too, b/c I also am "mommy" to 2 young beautiful boys, and "wife" to a very understanding husband (the reptiles are MY thing) :) He's really not interested :( I wish he was....maybe if I decorated their cage with golf balls and beer bottles they'd catch his eye :p

My initial investment came from my husband's salary. Now, I only buy things using the money I get from selling geckos. We breed our own feeders, so that helps a lot. If I want something, I'll just have to save up for it. Sometimes I get extra money from ebay, too.

Lets see... I'm an 18 year old college student, without a job (yet. hoping to change that next year when I study under a medical assistant program so I can pay for becoming a forensic pathologist). I pay for everything on my allowance (hence one of the reasons why I don't keep anything that needs feeders daily).

I'm an animal behavior specialist, but I get the $$ for caring for my herps from the mouse colony my son breeds. His ball is a small eater so whatever we have that we don't need goes back to the petshop and they give me/us credit there to get whatever we need. I also breed show rabbits so whatever doesn't make the cut for the show table either goes to the dog food people (which do pay for them) or the pet shop as well. My pet shop and I have a great relationship :)

I'm a teacher's assistant in the Illinois public education system. I work with special ed kids, mostly one on one. Since my salary is... pathetic at best, I do things like run the scoreboard for sports, or supervise other extracurriculars. It's not much more, but it's more than going and getting a second job.

What I really want to do is start selling knit and crochet things for extra cash, but I am unsure of what kind of market exists for such things.

I'm a Veterinary Technician. No matter where you work in the animal field, you don't usually make a ton of money, it's a labor of love for the most part. I also breed my own feeders, super worms and two species of roaches, which imo takes a large chunk out of care expenses. New animals mostly come from profits from sales of animals I produce, as well as from trades.

Iam a student studying in the IT field and waiter (hard to beat the money for the time worked)

To cut out cost, atleast a huge one is start breeding your own feeders. I havent got my colony self sufficient yet but Iam working on a mealworm and Dubia colony. Mealworm are starting to hatch and looking good tons of little tiny worms. I just started my Dubs about 3 weeks ago.

Last year of university (hoping to be a CA or CPA equivalent for you American folks). I saved enough money to pay off my studies so I graduate debt free. I also worked hard and got enough scholarships to cover my first two years of school. And since I am in business/finance, budgeting is my life so I make sure my babies fit in my budget. :) But I'm getting married next year (yay!) so the babies' budget may have to be cut a tad to cover the wedding lol.
