How many times a week should you feed your gecko?

I was just wondering.. I've read in alot of books and websites that you should only feed your geckos every 2-3 days. is this true? how often does everyone feed their geckos? I've only had my new leo for a a week (tomorrow) and I tried to feed her everyday, but she sometimes doesn't eat.

depends on how olld they are, hatchlings should be fed like every day, sub adult every other day, and adults like every 2 or 3 days.

This is the feeding schedule for my 7 mos old male mack snow, Eros :)

Monday - 3-4 super worms dusted in multi vit.

Tuesday - no feeding

Wednesday - 3-4 supers.

Thursday - no feeding

Friday - 4 supers

Saturday - no feeding

Sunday 4-5 meal worms

The sunday treat is just so he isn't STARVING on Monday. Also I noticed last night he really could have done with out the 4th super worm so I'll likely start next week cutting him back to just 3 on mon and wed.

Thankyou everyone :)
I need to buy some waxworms.. or those big mealworms as a variation to her diet. I've tried her with mealworms but she won't eat them. I just feed her crickets atm.

Pretty much as Jordan said; depends on how old your gecko is. I feed my adults once every 3 days. I suggest including more variety to your gecko's diet, its the best for the gecko.

i feed my sub adult gecko everyday, 3 crickets everyday

sometimes i feed him mealworms too

this guy never stops eating

he might be able to eat 10 large crickets a day if i gave him the opportunity but im trying to save money on crickets

his tail has grown very huge since i bought him though

should i stop feeding him so much?

Sub-adult... depending on size I was told at approx. 7 mos they could go to every other day feedings.

yeh thats right, at like over 40g or so, i'l start going every other day.
tbh, they end up eating more, due to the fact of the day break theyre hungrier and can eat more at each serving. I find they gain weight better when fed every other day.

Some of our animals will eat small meals every day, but others prefer larger meals every 2-3 days. I have some adults in the 70-85g range that will only eat small meals once a week. As long as no one loses weight, we just let them dictate when and what they eat. If they get too big, we cut back. It sort of just requires learning about each gecko's needs, but other than that it's not a hard pattern to maintain.

Generally, the hatchings eat more and more often than the adults, but not always.

Hi Kermet-
I have a very similar feeding schedule for all mine too but I was just wondering when you give Eros his calcium supplement? Do you just leave it in a bowl for him, or are you dusting the supers the days you dont do the multi vitamin? Im just wondering cause I dust mine with a mixture of approx 3 parts calcium, 1 part multivit. on mondays and fridays, and on wednesdays just the supers themselves (w/o any toppings :) ). But each gecko has a bowl at all times with mealies, and calcium powder together? I was just wondering if Im over doing it?

I'm prob under doing it. I do keep a dish of pure calcium in the tank 24/7, and dust with the repashy calcium plus icb mondays, but was thinking of dusting mon and wed to make sure he was getting enough multi vit. I know he uses the calcium dish. It always has fresh face prints in it :) so I don't want to dust every feeding if he's using the dish. I haven't seen any developmental problems with just dusting once a week, I think I'm gonna go back and read Adams pm's again about how he was supplimenting Eros.

I haven't yet decided banana's feeding routine.
I was researching and asking some of the people at my college and work but I don't know if what they said is right.
I was interested in superworm.. which are known as mioworms or something where I live. Like giant mealworms. But I've been told that they are too big for my leo, even though many people on here feed superworms and have no problems.. soo I'm going to ignore my college and get them. But my gecko won't eat normal mealworms, soo I'm wondering if she'll eat those.

I was also thinking about waxworms, like every friday or something.. but again, i'm not sure lol

Wax worms don't keep well. They die fast. MONDOworms is another name for supers (I believe) that's what my pet shop calls them too. How old is your leo again? Eros has been on supers since he was 7 mos old and never had a problem. Heck he ate 4 last night :) The only way a prey item is generally too large for your leo is if it's girth around the body is larger than the space between your leo's eyes. You're not gonna find a super worm THAT wide around. Adam had been feeding Eros supers and mealies since he was about 5 mos old (if I recall correctly).

I used to be scared to feed supers even to my 1.5 y/o leo, lol:main_laugh: But I've learned A LOT on here, (and watching youtube!:D) And now even Im feeding supers to my little 15 gram geckos :main_thumbsup:
I dont know of too many leos that can resist a superworm ;)

She better eat them if I pay for that.. she didn't eat the mealworms, but my fat-tailed jird enjoyed them instead :D Banana is just over a year by the way.. thats all I was told when I got her.
