How old until they can eat mealies?

My local pet store is offering a buy one get two free offer (rare) on mealworms this week only. I was wondered if my Jasper is suitable to eat a few of these. He's only had crickets thus far but he is around 4.75-5 inches long and very active. Is it safe to feed him mealies? And how many to start?

Should be safe. If you're paranoid get the small ones.

I bring up all my hatchlings on mealworms and they can eat the large ones quite soon.

A 4-5 in leopard gecko should have no problem with any sized mealworms.

I feed regular mealies until they have their second/third shed (depending on the geckos size) and then I feed giant mealies. As long as they are no wider than the width between the geckos eyes you are fine.
