Crickets and mealworms should be the main diet. Some people do mainly crickets some do mealworms. It's up to you what one you choose. Just be sure to gutload whatever you feed it.

I live in Florida, so I am limited to what roaches I can get, so I use crickets and mealworms. Only a few of my leos eat super worms, so they are the only ones that get them.

That is what I feed anyways. No matter what you feed, remember, they are only as good as the gutload you feed the feeders.

Any one of those (mealworms, superworms, roaches, and crickets) can be your main feeder. It just depends on which you like best, personally. As long as they're gutloaded well, the gecko should grow up big and strong lol. I've noticed that people who feed superworms or roaches regularly tend to have the quicker weight/size gain. I, personally, feed mealworms but occasionally supplement with Dubia roaches, superworms, and waxworms. I hate crickets.

Roaches are the best feeder, you just have to get past the fact that they're roaches. They have the best meat to shell ratio, dubias, at least, don't fly, don't climb glass and don't stink. You don't have to sort through all the bedding like mealworms either.

Put all that together in one makes the perfect feeder.

I second the roaches comment.

One factor that I feel was left out, was the fact that crickets can be down right, filthy and there has been a few cases where feeding crickets has actually caused declines in reptiles health, such as parasites.

edit; I am not trying to knock those, that do feed crickets, just merely stating what I've seen, and my views on them.

There are several good staple feeders, you can get small quantities to find out what your leo likes. Crickets have had some issues, as previously mentioned, and a lot of folks looked at other feeders with good results. Mine love superworms, don't give a fig about butterworms or mealies, are easily bored with crickets, dubias aren't legal in Florida. So I breed supers and looking at other roach feeders.

Im going to stop feeding mine crikets, it seems that he gets iritated with them, and that he doesnt like when they roam around the cage. first thing crickets stink very bad and i kind of hate them. Another thing is i dont were to get gutload from?
