What makes you think MBD? How old are they? I have a hard time imagining advanced MBD in babies, it usually takes several months at the least for signs to show up. More information and some pictures will help you get useful advice, but keep in mind that there is no substitute for help from a qualified vet, if they are as bad off as you think they need immediate medical attention.
First 3 pictures are of the one that is the worst off and the last two pictures are of the two that were with the other one and I believe they have early signs of MBD also.
Well I guess they could also just have horrible birth defects.
But all three of them have a hard time walking the one that is white (which I think may be a raptor) has to scoot to get around, he cannot pick himself up at all and the other two are also having a hard time walking.
So I know the raptor is probably not going to be able to be saved although I could be wrong but will the other two be able to live? And yes I have already contacted the owner and they said they would give me a $15 dollar credit with them. Sadly $15 dollars wont save these three from this painful state =(
I could try to get a refund but considering I already emailed them and they just said they would only credit me $15, so I don't think they will take him back. Even if they did I don't think I would want them to have him back considering they let him get this bad already =/
Ask for a full refund with return (of all the animals), if they refuse then I would take it to the BOI. People should not be selling animals like this. Do they have any sort of explanation for their condition? Did you see any pictures before buying them? I wouldn't settle for a credit - I wouldn't want to buy anything else from them!
I know it's hard to see them like that but people cannot get away with things like this or they will continue to do it.
i can not believe some people. i would either way make a thread on the BIO. those animals are int totally unacceptable condition. $15 credit? that will not even pay for the medicine to help them get better and help correct what the breeder failed to do to them (give them calcium and vitamin supplements). this person should either pay for the vet costs or refund you your entire purchase, or both.
They did not give an explanation for the reason as to why they were in this condition. And trust me I wont buy from them ever again and I agree with reporting them and hopefully the breeder will refund me because I have a feeling that the treatment to get these three back to health will be pretty expensive.
If you have never posted in the BOI before, make sure you read the instructions on posting and makes your full name is either under your avatar, in your signature, or signed manually. This is critical for your posts to not be removed.
Good luck, I hope you reach a resolution. Please do post so we all know who to not be giving our money to.. It is absolutely infuriating to see that people are selling animals in that condition. Absolutely sickening.
I agree with robin, i think whether or not you send them back. You should tell them to shove the 15 dollar credit where the sun doesnt shine, and get a full refund or pay for the vet. OR BOTH! They are in horrible shape, and you can't tell me they didn't know of it when they mailed them. That is Crazy.
Okay this makes me very angry that someone is selling animals that are in that condition. Clearly, they all have something terribly wrong with them, which most likely is some type of MBD.
I'm not sure what the terms of service are as far as this "breeder" goes (and I use that term with a grain of salt, mind you) but if I were you I would be through the roof right now. Did you see pictures of the animals before you purchased them? Were they supposed to be represented as healthy and ended up showing up like that? I have a hard time believing anyone would actually spend money to have these animals shipped to them, knowing they were in that condition. I hate to make assumptions, but the animals were totally misrepresented, yes?
These animals do need to see a veterinarian, asap. As far as who should eat the costs for that...well, again that goes back to the seller's TOS. IMHO, I would contact the seller and have them pay to have the animals shipped back. Three geckos with MBD might not be a responsibility you are ready for...i'm certain it wasn't something you wanted when you first made the purchase?
Seems like this could be Fauna BOI worthy to me. Just my 2c.
