I know it was an accident, but...

I feel horrible. I was changing papers tonight. Usually the gecko will sit on my shoulder while I change water. Nishi decided to try to climb down the back of my shirt. Before I could catch her she fell, and hit the bathroom floor. Her tail was moving uncontrollably. She couldn't use her back legs. Of course this happened right before I had to go to work. Luckily I was able to call Ryan, and have him come home to take her to the vet. It was about 30 minutes before he made it home. By that time her tail thrashing stopped, and it looked like she was able to walk again. I still haven't heard from him as to what the vet found. I am so glad there is a herp hospital open 24/7 close to here. I felt so bad I thought I was going to puke.

she was probably in shock and winded
if you have ever fallen from high spot you would know what i mean
I once feel from a barn roof while working on it with my dad and I had to lie down for a good 2 hours before I could comfortably walk but I was perfectly fine later that day

Ang, we had a similiar incident happen the first day we bought our first geckos. We brought them home and had Turk sitting on the table trying to take a pic of him. He ran and jumped off the table. When we picked him up he was in a puddle of his own urine and could not move his back legs at all. He just pulled himself around with his front legs. After 1-2 hours he was walking around again and I am happy to report he is fully functional and fathered many babies last year. :)

I hope your girl is OK!

Ryan is back from the vet. The vet said she seems to be ok. He didn't see any inflamation, and she is able to walk ok now. He said she didn't seem to be having any pain reactions, so we just need to keep an eye on her. I'm pretty relieved. If only I could believe SHE learned a lesson from the whole experience.

Wow, sorry that happened to you, my girl likes to jump, bit of a fearless one mine is... I hate when she falls even it only a foot to the floor where I was sitting in a chair. She always sits there right after & is like "WHOA, what was...that...uh.........I WANNA DO IT AGAIN!!! WOOOOO!!!!" I hate it when she jumps...
