I still like Line Bred Snow’s the best.

If the Mack's aren't temp sexable and the line breds are, then wouldn't that prove that they are two different species? Also, wouldn't that prove that the line breds are not the same as Mack's.

Are only the Super Macks not temp sexable? Or all Macks?
And didn't Kelli mention that Super Macks do not get that big? Is that the case with all Macks? Or only with the Super Macks?

Interesting topic...

Nobody is saying that ALL the Line Bred ARE Macks. I think that there are Line Bred and there are Macks. What I think is that some how a Mack got mistaken for a Line Bred and now they are mixed up in a way. Someone may have had a Mack and didn't know it and sold it as a Line Bred, etc.

The "Supposed" Line Bred Snow that I got from Shelley at Lizard Lair laid eggs that weren't Temp sexable. She laid 4 eggs, I incubated them for male and got all females :main_huh: And, out of the 4 eggs that hatched, each clutch had 1 normal and 1 Black And White baby.

I don't think the Gems are Macks. I have been working with snows identical to the "gem" line for 5 years now as have other ppl. I have never achieved a super snow. I do not consider any line of snows to be "line bred" . If they are not the mack snows, I believe all other snows do fit the Gem snow model.

here is wild theory. maybe the "line bred" trait is a mutated allele of the mack line. maybe something in evolution came along and changed it, but didn't change it completely.

this is minde boggaling. now as ive read every one that has tried the gem to MSS has had super snows produced. has any one tried Gem to A one copied mack and if so how did that turne out? this is wierd i mean i have always been told that like bred and macks are not compatable.

i do have to say each linde bred snow has its own uniqueness to it where as the MSS are uniformed for the most part. i do have a mack ss that i like to think has a bit of a reduction of the spoting. eather way they are both very pretty.

lastley i did not know that the Macks where not Temp sex dependent because well i havent bred them yet, that would have been a surprise this seson lol. and was it just the mack SS or are the macks the same way when it comes to temp dependet sex??

So, you guys are saying that you can breed a Mack to a Line Bred Snow and get SS's?

We hatched a SS from Line Bred X Mack Snow a few months ago.

Our Line Bred is Albey's line, but we did not purchase directly from Albey.

This is one out of eight offspring that we had from the Line Bred female. The others were 3 normals and 4 Snows. I don't know if this is the Line Bred's influence, but one of the normals hatched out yellow and black and then turned completely white as it has aged. He is now over 40 grams and has kept his white coloration, with just some yellow on his sides. Very interesting to say the least.

Just to add, there is no possible way that this SS came from anything but our Line Bred Snow X Mack Snow pairing; we did not get eggs confused or miss-mark them. We only did three pairings this past season; apart from the above-mentioned, we also did Patternless X Mack Snow, and Mack Snow Patternless X Mack Snow Patternless pairings (which are impossible to produce SS).

I am breeding SS male to SHTCT female and Mack snow female, incubating at 81 for female and all resulting snows and super snows have been female.
