I woke to find two cute tremper albino then was slaped clean in the face both have badly developed eyes 1'st i think maybe could have a ok life on paper substate it just laking it's top eye lids but is very active.2'ed just has one eye from what i can see the other eye is really sucked back into the eye socket :( and it's not very active time will tell ?.Such a shame as they are both tremper albino het blizzard & patternless for a tremper albino blizzard/patternless project :( witch ofcorse these can't be used for :( just hope the other eggs hatch good.Any reason for eye lid problems ? just one of them things ? or somthing more ?.

Did you have any temp fluctuations? That's the first thing I can think of. We had a hypo hatch out last year with an underdeveloped eye lid and I honestly thought he wasn't going to make it. His eye stayed closed for the longest time and he had a hard time gaining weight. Now he goes after anything that moves, so I think he's got bad vision. He's a pet for us now, or maybe someone else later? But we had a temp fluc when I moved that particular batch from the garage to the new incubator. I don't know what else could cause it, other than maybe they hatched too early?

What are you supplements are you using and what is your schedule?

The parent are given a vit/min/cal powder called nutralbal (vetark) i put a good pinch or two of mealworms in a dish then add a tea spoon of nutralbal, shack it so the mealworm get powdered. So powder & food same dish so if all the mealworms are eaten the powders still there for the taking.New powder and mealworm about every 3 days give or take depending on the leo as some eat more or less than others. They also get butterworms 2 to 3 times a month these are said to be good for calcium.

The only temp that i have no control over if it get to hot'etc for a incubator is we are just starting to hit summer hear in the UK.Other than that incubator temp is 87'f-30'c for around 50/50 male/female offsping.

you might want to switch supplementation and get a proportional thermostat.

I very well may consider that regarding supplement. It has a thermostat on the incubator i can control dropping of temp but not over heating'etc i'm going to find a cooler room in the house. But saying that i used both the same supplement and incubator last year this didn't happen last year ??.

A proportional thermostat controls the power going into the heating element, so it doesn't get too hot. Not like the on/off type. Proportionals are best for incubation, to get a stable temp.

I had 1 out of 38 hatchlings born with an eyelid defect last season. All the other hatchlings from that female and from the other females where the eggs were in the same incubator were fine as far as eyes go. I just had a hatchling hatch today with one eye smaller than the other, although as far as I can tell the eyelid is normal. I'm waiting to see what develops with her. She is the 4th hatchling to come out of the same incubator and container since 4/8. I think that sometimes there's just a glitch that doesn't have to do with temp fluctuations or supplementation, especially if you get only one out of a lot with a defect. I'm sure there are other cases where there is a husbandry problem, which should result in a higher number of hatchlings with defects.

also Ive heard of people using fans in their incubators. I guess this would work with leos as well.

fans tend to dry the eggs out bad. most reptile breeders do not use any fans in their incubators for this reason

Yeah man, get a proportional thermostat. I would never trust my eggs with a built in thermostat or anything other than a proportional thermostat. With my Helix the biggest fluctuation I've ever had was 2 degrees, but the majority of the time the temp stays right where I set it.

Not a actual hobovator but pretty much the same design as in large poly box/couple heat mats/thermostat.

the one that can not blink may have to be put down. they need to link to keep light out and to moisten their eyes. it also is just waiting for an eye infection to pop up
