I wonder...can a male learn to be wary of just one female?

I've put my male Jazzy in with my female Spike about twice a week for the past two or three weeks, just so she'll begin to ovulate. Each time he went for her, she attacked him (not viciously, mind you, he didnt even have scratches) enough for him to back off. Last time I took his paper and put it into her cage...well, now she IS ovulating and I put the two together..it's like he wants nothing to do with her. He'll vibrate his tail, look at her, and then walk to the other side of the cage.

Is it possible he's just afraid of being attacked again? Or should I just leave them together and he'll get to it eventually?

haha I dunno I was wondering the same thing! Hope bit Ghost after they successfully mated and he looked like a broken man and I remember thinking "I hope that experience doesn't scare him away from the ladies!" he looked all ashamed he had just been beaten up by a female and couldn't get far enough away from her! He's a little hornball though, so if we use him this season he should be fine. (I hope) Sorry I have no advice only a similar story. :)

He may remember her...or she may be ovulating but not emitting any pheromones which indicate she is ovulating or she simply doesn't want to breed with him. He knows whats going on and if she were willing he would do his thing

i would leave him in. give him some time. he may and try to "romance" her. not all geckos are a wham bam thank you ma'am type of breeding. another tip, you may way to get a piece of paper towel from one of your other males enclosures and put it in that enclosure

p.s. if he is vibrating his tail he is interested in something. just because you do not see them breed or hear them breed doesn't mean they haven't mated.

Their substrate is paper, and she's had his paper in her cage since last week. He's the only "mature" male I have at the moment.

I've been constantly watching them when they're together--if they had mated, I would have seen it. But I'll leave her in with him for a while. They seem to get along well now, at any rate. We'll see what happens..

Nope, all my other males are 35g and under. They're growing fast, but not fast enough lol They'll be ready for my other girls around the time my girls are ready (probably mid-to-late april). Waiting is so hard! lol.
