I'm a 2 year gecko addict

For all you newbies out here on GF...here's a little proof as to the addiction:

Our first leo celebrates his birthday this month. I started out planning to have 1 as a pet "for my son." That was only 2 years ago. We now have 4 leos & 3 cresties. The guestroom has been renamed The Gecko Suite since their individual tanks line 2 of the 4 walls.

We've had 1 leo death which still makes me sad when I think of the cute lil guy. If I knew then, what GF has taught me over these 2 years maybe his outcome would've been different. I hate that guilt.

I'd rather die than look at maggots. Yet, I can handle mealies in all stages. Well, the alien form still creeps me out. We have our little colony. Everytime we serve potatoes or salad, the colony gets a share. The beetles got a bug playground for Christmas. Pathetic? Nah, it's just fun & again I can say it's all for my boys.

I'll make up excuses to go to a reptile show...taking the cub scouts, gotta bring my sister--she wants a snake, got to bring a friend--he needs a tarantula. I've been to enough that I don't always come home with something new...that's not true, but I've come home from a few without geckos.

As I enter my 3rd year as a gecko pet owner, I know there's at least "just one more" in my future. I'll probably spend my year trying to master live planted crestie enclosures, creating new doors and probably venture back into making the leos better faux-rock stomping grounds. Oh yeah, and trying to convince my husband that "no, we've always had 8...9...10 geckos."

My name is Jeanine & I've been a gecko addict for 2 years.

These little guys must emit some sort of....hormone that's sensitive to humans and makes them want MORE.

I just got mine a few months ago and I'm already looking at getting another even though I'm FLAT BROKE for the moment. :p

I can believe it XD

I've had Kaida for almost a year now, will be a year next month, and I know that I want a Super Snow male for sure (possible boyfriend for her...maybe...maybe not, either way I love that morph) and there are a few others that I'd love to have one day.

So yeah...I was warned when I got both Kaida and Leonith that it was addicting and I believe it now lol

They are too much fun. I always stop to take a look at pet store leos now, as well as all the other scalies they may have. Saw THE cutest little baby tortoises tonight at one of the local pet stores here in Dallas.

You know. At first, I wasn't obsessed with Leos.
My first was an impulse buy on my fathers part.

Once I've joined this site, I gained an all new appreciation for them. All the designs? Dear God...I just love it all.

I'm proud to be a part of the Leo community.

Same here, got my first 2 leo's on 2nd of December last year, then got another one in a few days ago, but am now thinking i will adapt my 2 other vivs to make 1 larger viv, turn them on their side & make a sliding pr of doors to fix on the front, then i can have more. Have to see if hubby will co-operate.

Well...I started off with 2, and then mysteriously after 2 months, I have 5...lol.

I'm trying very hard here to limit the number of geckos I have; because I want to provide each of them with a decent sized glass tank with nice furnishing; but I just don't have the space for all the tanks. I have rearranged my apartment 2 times (in the midst of the 2nd rearrangement now actually) in order to accommodate more! Geckos comes first in my house, lol.

It is very addictive for sure!!! But I can think of alot worse things to be addicted to. I started like everyone else now I find myself with 200 + that I love each and every one. they bring joy to me and releive my anxiety. But they defonately are addictive, I have so many but can still name a bunch I need or want. The money I have spent on my collection is alot and I still I have much more to spend. But money dont make you happy what it buys does in this case geckos. And honestly I love being hooked on these guys and love it.

After having many different kinds of animals over the years, my veiled died right before Christmas this year. I cried like a baby for 2 days so hubby asked me what I wanted to help with the pain and as a present from Santa :) . I had seen some leo pics and thought they were so cute. So I started learning about thier care and what I would need ( alot of you helped in that) and gathered up everything I didn't have yet. A few days before Christmas I got Amara, my bell albino baby. She is now just 3 months and still a bit skiddish, but were getting there. She has found she likes sleeping in my hair.

Went to a reptile show yesterday and I was in gecko heaven. :) I knew the morphs off the top of my head and was thinking of getting a friend for my girl. I held a bunch of different leos, but none captured my heart. Then I saw a 1yr. old female AFT. I had herd about them and read alitle bit and knew thier care was similar to leos, and since I was holding everything else, why not?? ( now u know where this is going huh? lol) I picked her up and unlike Amara she was so tame. She crawled into my shirt for warmth and fell asleep while I petted her head ( I found she likes that alot.) Hubby took one look at my face and said "aww crap!" lol I walked around some more but kept comming back to hold her I couldn't help myself. After some dealing, I bought her and brought her home.

So my " I only want 1 desk baby to play with" has now turned into 2 tanks and 2 sweet girls. My name is Michele, and I am now a gecko addict! :)
