I'm a little worried...

Is it possible to give him a waxworm or two to hopefully jump start his appetite and get something in his stomach?

I don't like using waxworms as food, they are way too big for him lol. Thank you though. <3

Well, no change. As far as I can tell he hasn't moved. He did perk up when I walked by his cage. He is staying by the plant in the middle of his tank, he won't go to either side but stays in the middle under then plant. He usually stays in his warm hide.

I have a medium sized tupper ware bowl I'm going to put him in for a bit, see if he'll eat something. I forgot I had it until this morning.

I just wish I didn't have to pay rent, otherwise this would be so much easier because I could just bring him no problem.

Oh crap guys, I don't think his belly is supposed to look so dark. I know you can see organs but this looks really bad to me.

I bought some the other week and there were smaller ones in the container. They are a little big but them being soft-bodied sort of negates their size to me. I'm inexperienced with gecko diseases so I don't want to risk saying something alarming when I could be wrong. But that is worrisome. Have you called around local vets to check the cost of a fecal exam? I can't recall if that was already discussed in the thread.

I would not recommend to keep moving him to different places and picking him up. This will cause a large amount of stress on an already very weak gecko. That plastic bowl does not have the requirements he needs. Also he should be sleeping somewhere dark during the day and conserving the little energy he has. (They are nocternal).
I would place him in his enclosure in the humid hide and leave him alone with food and water for the rest of the day.

One major thing that many people do not consider when getting a pet is being able to afford vet bills. This is a big part of being able to properly care for a pet. Without proper diagnosis the animal could just end up suffering until the end which is sad.

The picture is not focused very well but From the looks of it those are just some of his organs. From my experience when the belly area is a dark color its a very bad sign.

I took him out of it. He had climbed up the paper towel and was about to get out anyways so I suppose it works out.

One would assume that they wouldn't be sold a sick animal either. I normally would have the money to do something like this but this paycheck and my next paycheck are coming off of inventory at the store I work at so I didn't get as many hours as I normally would. I mean he really picked the wrong time to get sick. Not to mention my apartment was broken into Friday. That didn't help either. D:
Its part of the reason why I freaked out so bad last night. I mean its just a crap weekend.

I just wanted to take some picture of his underside while I was getting him into his tub. He's actually quite good being handled. Once I get him in my hand.

He's good about being handled because he's too weak to protest. Healthy hatchlings are quick squirmy little things that can be seriously tough to hold onto. Docile ones are usually sick :(

As Brad said - any amount of handling causes stress. I would leave him alone 23 hours a day and only try dotting some mealworm or cricket guts on his face for less than 30 mins in the AM and PM. Without taking him to a vet I'm not sure there's much else you can do.

Good luck. Again, sorry you're having such a bad experience with your first gecko and have had a crap weekend :(

And here I thought it meant he was getting used to me. :| I'll tape a towel around his cage so he isn't bothered. I'll try feeding him around sunset.

If there is a next time I'm definitely not getting a young gecko again. At least they house the adult geckos at Petco correctly. They only have 2 and they are in their own tanks and they have nice fat tails.

Once again, thanks to all of you. I'll definitely stick with this site for any gecko things that happen to come up. <3 Hopefully he'll recover. Is there anything I should be looking out for? Certain signs? Anything?

I think the better choice would be to NOT get another gecko from a large chain pet store. Get one from a legit breeder that specializes in leos not a chain store that for the most part could care less about the animal as long as they sell.
I would think that this "crap" experience would make you think twice about purchasing from a large chain pet store, instead of considering trying it again. Very Bad idea (IMO). The gecko may be cheaper there but as they say.... you get what you pay for.

Agree with Doc on this one. My leo was SUPER fast and would squirm and run all over if I tried to handle her. I got my leo at Petco when they had them half off. I feel VERY fortunate that I happened to get a healthy one. She started eating within a day of me bringing her home and has never had any problems.. Her only problem might be that she's WAY too spoiled! LOL

How is your little guy? Any luck with the worm guts yet?

I would agree with others that Petco may not be the best choice. GA seems like it would be a good place to find reptile breeders and shows. Check around and I bet you'll find one somewhere nearby!

I haven't been able to find anybody close but I'm sure I could If it came to it I can. Hopefully it won't come to that though.

I took him off the tile and back to carpet, he drank a ton of water for some reason. For about 4 min. Then he went to chill and hasn't really moved since. He still isn't eating but he is locking the mealworm guts at least!

Also I was meaning to ask, you guys said his belly looked swollen, do you still think so after seeing him from below?

I have some good news, he may have eaten a mealworm when I wasn't looking. :)
The only reason a say may is because I'm not sure if it ran off, it hadn't moved for about an hour so I'm hoping it ended up in Sparky's belly.

Also I managed to snag a Zilla Thermostat off ebay, should be here by the end of the week. If I didn't mention this before, I don't have one.

He went to the bathroom...
Its not great.

Thank goodness I'm going to the vet.
I am by no stretch a vet but that does not look good.
Depending on when you are going to the vet (hopefully very soon), You may want to get a Q-tip and get a good sample of that for them to test. Place it in a ziplock bag and put it in the fridge until your appointment.

In waiting on the fecal exam results.
Found out he only weighs 2.8 grams. That cannot be good.

Fecal came back negative but she wants to use some de-wormer on him anyways. Not sure what that is but I just hope it helps.
