Ok so i have a gecko that isnt eating....the gecko is a dwarf so hes always been a little smaller/thinner but not like this....He was housed with 2 other geckos. Whenever there was fresh water or food he was the first to eat/drink. He would eat his fill and id usually have to refill for the other 2. One of the 2 he was housed with got mouthrot and is still dealing with it. I seperated all my geckos and they are all eating great and adjusting well to their tubs...well all except the dwarf. He hasnt been eating very much. Today i managed to get 2 waxies in him but he just isnt eating. Now there is three things that may be the cause of this-

1.He has mouthrot. But i doubt it because he shows no visual signs(the crust, watery eyes, etc) So ive kinda ruled that out...

2.He is lonely? I mean he was housed with 2 other geckos. Do you think he misses the companionship??

3.He is used to mealworms. He has eaten mealies his whole life and now the shortage has caused me to switch. All the others switched fine but not him.

Im worried. He is starting to get lethargic and i would really hate to see him go. Do you think that one or more of the reasons listed is the cause?? What should i do? Please help:eek: Thanks,

Justan

How long has he been on his own? It may take him awhile to adjust. You could try superworms, maybe he'll like those. You could also try to put him back in with the one that doesn't have mouth rot, but I'd try the other solutions first.

they have all been seperated for about...a month? Gave or take a week. I got crix last night but he didnt seem interested. Im supposed to be getting 2000 mealies before friday so hopefully that will help. So the cause is probably the change in environment? Ill put him with the female he was with and see if that helps any to.

Justan, don't move him again! that will just stress him further. just cozy up his enclosure--give him a nice dark humid hide kept around 85-90, and place his worm dish within reach of the opening to the humid hide--so he doesn't have to expose himself to eat. And don't handle him until he starts eating again. I've got some phoenix worms, and I'll give you some next time I see you--they are the most nutritionally perfect feeder, plus, geckos go nuts for them :) You can call me anytime, and not just about the geckos I've sold/given you.

Winter Hibernation

Okay, so it's just the end of September but temp's have dropped pretty quickly here in Poland, it's about 4-8 degrees celcius here. The temp in my apartment has dropped as well cause the heat didn't come on till yesterday. The problem is my Gecko seems to be more lethargic (sleeping almost all day, eating once every two days) is this because of the temperature change? the temp is constant in her viv, high 80's low 90's. Can they detect a change in the weather outside? any help would be greatly appreciated
