I was looking up something about geckos and came across an interesting article that said something I havent heard of.
Leapord geckos that are incubated at 32C and come out female are called superfemales and act like male geckos and become highly agressive and are said to be bad for future breeding.
Anyone else heard of this?

I haven’t heard of them being called “superfemales”, but I have heard that females that where incubated for male will sometimes be aggressive, not breed, or cannot breed.

The hotter you incubate, the more male hormones are produced. Some females have so much more male hormones than the females from lower incubation temps, that they even develop secondary sex characteristics of the male sex--females with huge heads, thick necks, and the attitude to match :)

All I can really say is that we have hatched a female that was incubated at 88 degrees, and she is the sweetest thing ever!! No joke. She isn't old enough to breed yet though, so we will just have to wait and see how that goes..

We had another female that was highly aggressive, so aggressive that she would literally charge at her bin when we walked into the room. Needless to say, we did not keep her! We bought her from a breeder too, who told us she was incubated at 81 degrees.
