My mom and I just got home from the expo in Portland ME, a four hour drive. LOL The expo was calm and nice. There was many snakes up for sale. As well, as some skinks and tegus. I met Steve and Aliza (acapt). Aliza had her temper albino male for show. I got to hold him. He was HUGE, very heafty! :main_yes: She also had some hatchling leos up for sale for very resonable prices. I wanted to get one, but my mom made me chose.. either a leo or a corn snake... So I picked myself up a female candy cane hatchling corn from J&J Reptiles. I paid $35 for her. Her colors where brighter than the rest of the candy canes, so I just had to have her. I also bought one of Aliza's awesome clay bowls she made for herps. It's really neat. I am useing it for a water dish for my corn, perfect size for her. I didn't get a change to take any photos of the expo (which I regret now), due to we forgot to bring batteries along... It was a great time, and I will glady go to any other expo in the future. I don't think my mom was digging the expo, she is a girly girl and kept away from all the snakes... :main_laugh: All though she did hold a baby blue tongue skink (we already have a adult bts, Hershal)....

I will take some photos of my new corn snake, Alley, tomorrow on my mom's cell. I want you all to see her! She is a doll!

Thank you for reading!!

HOLY SMOKES!!! 4 hours one way??? you must be up bangor or a lil further north? we arrived at the show around 1:15ish... it seemed to be a good turn out for us maine-ahs.... i must say i was a smidge dissapointed by the snakes as they were everywhere and not much for any other kind of reptiles.... but then again maines laws im sure prevents alot from being up here... though i must say... some of those snakes were neat-o!!! lol... but was just a lil let down that there wasnt more legged guys :)

anywho... i must tell ya, we met Aliza (acapt) almost imeditly as we got there... talked browsed and came back and forth multi times with so many decisions... *my bday is next month and i wanted to gecko for my bday... under the impression that we couldnt afford it right now cuz we have alot going on now... my wife makes me aware that she had 60 bucks saved up for the show for my bday!!! :D shes awesome!* *not to mention we covered her bday too!! :main_laugh: * so i was going back and forth not knowing what to do... i wanted em all lol... Aliza was HUGE help... such a wonderfull down to earth person willing to help out when possible... i honestly think all my future gecko purchases will be threw Aliza when possable.... just a great great help and willing to bend, stretch, push or pull... anything to help!! and everything at a great price to boot coming up from boston... i dunno how she does it but i have a hard time beleiving she makes much if any of a profit... truely just someone in it for the love of it :main_thumbsup:

so my wife and I we going to the show for one reason only... that was to meet up with Aliza so we could pick up a tank she swung a deal for us on AND pick up our special needs gecko... let me tell you this lil special one is a doll!! bright alert and perky... shes awesome... for those of you who dunno she was born with a deformity with her front legs... one leg is full but the foot part appears useless, and the other side just has a small stub with a toe... and let me tell you... she gets around just fine, we are so impressed with her :D ill try to shoot some pics tomorrow and yall will see lol... our lil special one is a parternless red stripe... shes lil but wicked sweet!!!

then we found a pair of leos for 50 for the 2... male and female... i liked the male, my wife liked the female... so happy bday to us... and the guy took 45 insted! *dances* now i dunno how accurate the discripion of the morphs are on these guys... but they both only said, "pos. het bell albino" ... *Shrug* ill let the pics do the talking tomorrow :main_laugh:

then its back to Aliza's table... we HAD to get one of her awesome home made hides!!! they are way cooler than a log!!! then there was a lower priced gecko that she had that we finally decided to get :D $25 price tag on her, wich i was stoked about! shes a hypo tang het T.albino, she was an offspring of the male she had on display! :) shes awesome!!

so we spent way more money than planed but we got 4 awesome geckos! not to mention the trip home was pricey as we took a small detour and went to that place where the pets go in agusta... they had 20, 29 and 55 i think it was... gallon tanks on sale for a buck a gallon... so we snatched up another 20long to put a couple our our newbies in... plus the screens... lets say we played budget perfectly today as we litertly went home with 24 cents left from the money we brought lol...

all in all a great day! a SUPER PLEASURE meeting up with Aliza, home was a lil stressfull as we were not prepared for 4 geckos and 2 new tanks :main_laugh: but we are alive and made it and had a great time!!! sorry for the long read!

I was there first thing in the morning, Ive never seen so many snakes in one place!

A mother to her kids upon entering:
"We can go walk and look around, they won't be running out of cornsnakes anytime soon"

I saw your leo when I picked mine up from Aliza, amazingly happy (for a lizard) and healthy looking despite the limbs. We bought savannah from Aliza, she's about a year old. Quick pic, she's even brighter now this pic was right after breeding.
Savannah081.jpg

Im amazed she wasn't in her hide for the ride home, she was looking around the tank a lot last night. I expected her to be shy, but she's not. Maybe moving her into the big tank sooner than I had hoped :D

I was also looking at all the snakes, and since I have this 20 gallon tank, with heater on a stand that I set up for the new gecko temporarily...

Went home with a baby corn snake as well, a male classic het hypo :D

I'm glad everybody had a good time. I had a blast and was really glad to meet and re-meet the Maine Geckoforums contingent. No, I'm definitely not in it for the profit, but I did come home with enough to keep us in crickets for awhile. I was up till after 1am (after sleeping about 3 hours the night before and driving 2 hours each way) re-arranging hatchling quarters --I sold 14 plus the special needs baby which Bill was so good to adopt. I was greeted this morning by a screaming albino baby (another of Savannah's offspring, Ryan) who is #32 with 11 more to go if everything goes well.

I saw Aliza special needs one too...glad it found a good home. After syringe feeding a Gecko that did not make it...I was not up for another special needs one now...it was little and cute though. I did enjoy seeing "the big guy".

I actually did not realize that was Aliza...until I got home and was reading her WONDERFUL Caresheets. I had 2 boys constantly on the move so it was hard to talk to anyone!

I ended up getting a Hyposnow Corn Snake from Mojoherps.com . The boys were planning on a Ball Python, but she talked us out of it and went with a corn. We did not get a Gecko when we left the show at 12:00...but we did when we went back at 1:30! Aliza had 4 left, and they looked very much like the leoard gecko we have aready...and did not interest the boys. The boys saw some Pastel yellow and pink ones from Regal Reptiles...they were expensive ($65), but did look healthy. I was dissapointed that we had no birthday or breeding spec on the Gecko though.

Got a 20L tank from Beeders Boxes...for $35...a good deal I thought. I ended up deciding to put the 2 geckos in the 20L, and the corn snake in the 10 gallon for now...hence the reason we went back and got the second gecko.

I bought $82 in frozen rodents...$12 for me...$70 for a friends son's son and mother.

It was nice to meet Emma...one of the best posters on GF.

Needless to say...was very busy when I got home cleaning tanks, setting up new gecko tank....santitizing the 10 gallon for the corn snake....and today...I am exhausted...but all herps seems to be doing wonderful!

Yes, the expo was great! I loved meeting people from GF, and holding all those amazing snakes. :) I can't wait for next years show, I will add to my collection again. Aliza was very, very kind and I loved the clay items that she was sellling, they were awesome! Steve (scharles) was nice too. His little boys were so wild though.. LOL.... :) We didn't end up buying any frozen rodents, due to we didn't bring a cooler along. >_>

Aliza- I didn't know you had a special needs leo up for sale! I know my mom would have let me get him..... shame... shame.. shame... :) There is always next year!

Yes, the expo was a four hour drive away from us, and a four hour drive back to our house. It took FOREVER! I live about a hour and a half from Bangor.... so I live pretty down east....

The vendours had some great snakes up for sale. Awesome balls, like the ones with white patches! This lady at J&J Reptiles had a very cool black, very shinny snake she was holding. I can't remember the name of the snake for the life of me! Under a UVB light, the snake looked fake, it was so cool!

It was a great turn out, and I can't wait for next year's expo to come!

I actually didn't have her up for sale. Bill agreed to take her and I brought her for him. I'm glad you had a good time.

Well, sad to say, but it's aboout four hours and a half (or around 5 hours) away from me. I have asked my mom about that show, and she said she will have to think about it....

I hope we can go. But this time if we go, we are going to get a hotel room and spend the night. :D

He just eats dusted crickets with the rest of them. Around Oct. 1, he'll just about stop eating and lose 20 grams and then pick up again in the spring. I guess it's just in the genes.

I guess so. He was huge, even by how long he was. He was big all around. He is amazing, and I hope my leos get to be that huge!

Did you get to take any pictures of the expo Aliza? I didn't get to.

I was HIGHLY contemplating going to Oct 4th in Manchester, NH...but just looked at my schedule...and I am working a double shift that day...so that will be a "no go" for me. I am about 2 hours from there.

They usually have 2 shows a year in Manchester...I think the spring one is like usually in April...I will have to try to make that. My buddies would have grown by then and need new tanks and stuff.
