..of using Paypal.

When you send money to someone, let's say, for a gecko; you get to select what the money is being sent for (i.e. "goods," "services," etc.). If you select "personal" and then select "gift," there are no Paypal fees.. just thought I'd share :)

just make sure you trust the person you're sending your money too. you can't file a dispute over a gift. must be marked goods or services. so if you never receive your gecko... you're outta luck.

Yeah, that is a good point for sure!! Although many people know each other pretty well in the hobby, so I wouldn't worry too much if I was buying from someone I purchased from before or knew personally.

Thats just like when a canadian orders something from the US he can ask the supplier who is in the US to mark gift on the declaration papers. The person in canada doesnt have to pay duty fees.Having said that I would not advise doing that since that is illegal and also your avoiding taxes which is a big no no.

Like Roger..... if you play with fire you might get burned. I would keep a deal straight up and pay the extra for the connivence of using paypal.

if the gift is over a set amount the sender pays the fee, in the uk the limit seems to be £100, anything under that is free, but £100 or more the sender pays about 6% of the total eg £100 gift = £106 for the sender, may be different outside ripoff britain, plus as already mentioned, if you don't receive your gecko there is no comeback

My fiance has his own paypal account and I have my own, except we have a Paypal debit card linked to mine.. so if he gets money in his account, we send it to mine so we can use the money instantly with the paypal card. It's nice to know there's a way to not have to pay fees each time we do this, or are just sending money to another trusted friend.

It's perfectly understandable to not want to do this with a business transaction, however, I still stand by the fact that many people within this community are trusted friends.
