hydrometer measures the humidity.

UTH is an under tank heater that provides heat that is essential for digestion. I've found the zoo med ones work great. but since you have a 10 gallon the other brand (zilla I think) would probably suffice, they don't put off as much heat. I'd still go for hte Zoo Med, but get the 1-5 gallon uth instead of the 10-20 gallon size. Well.. Go for hte 10-20 gallon one, and if it puts off too much heat, exchange it for hte 1-5. You really need to buy one or your gecko may not be getting essential heat for digestion, but low temps can alos cause respiratory problems.

Thermometer measures temperature. Buy a digital thermometer with a probe. The rest of them are inaccurate. I belive Fluker's makes a digital thermometer/hydrometer for like $15-$20 it's a little pricey but it's great. If you want to be cheap, buy the cheap $10 thermometers by exoterra.

I don't think a hydrometer is necessary; but I'll definitely get something to control the temps from the heating mat to prevent over heating. Thermostats work better, but they are more expensive than rheostats; which are just like "dimmers", where you can turn the heat higher or lower.

You'll need the next size up from the hermit crab UTH for your tank :main_thumbsup:
