there is only one of these in the world, as of right now. i think its a bit early to call it a morph. I bet its just a weird one and not genetic maybe even a type of paradox. but then again could be something awesome. Sad part is I bet if the breed it and get nothing weird in the first generation they will scrap the project. Its Gourmet Rodent. This year alone they will be hatching about 100,000 leopard geckos. keeping track of one is not really a priority. It would be better suited in a smaller collection IMO. But time will tell

In all reptiles, not just leo's, yellow is my favorite color. I normally prefer wild type coloring for reptiles but if I have to have a morph give me yellow! That is very pretty.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of the oranges and reds in reptiles.

Very pretty! And I agree that yellows are nice. This may very well end up being like the blue bellied geckos, but if not, how exciting that will be! It's sad also, like Matt mentioned in his post about this coming from a "mass breeder", it probably will get lost in the crowd if it doesn't have proven results right away. Then you wonder too if new morphs coming out of such massive breedings don't end up losing quality due to such quantities.

I completely agree- I hope the Lemon Frost project is genetic and someone takes the patience/time to sort it out!

Anyone know what ever happened to that blue or green bellied leopard gecko project? Have anymore been produced? I've been out of the loop. Any updates would be appreciated!

My first thought when I saw the photos a few years ago was that it was overproduction of biliverdin, either from increased degradation of heme or erythrocytes (for example- internal bleeding or congenital defect in enzyme metabolism). I would make the hypothesis that if the animal survived, the blue coloration would eventually disappear as the body compensates. I also noticed the blue bellied hatchling in the photo seemed to be somewhat bloated (large belly) and also albino, which may or may not increase the likelihood of congenital defects. Luckily reptiles can tolerate much higher concentrations of biliverdin than other species, so I hope the gecko is still alive!

I think Ron wrote something about the blue bellys being based on enzymes in FB recently.. It was my thought from the beginning.
The colour seems to disappear with age currently. It will be intersting to watch in future how this project will develop.

On another note I am also pretty sure there are some people still working on different kinds of blue projects (not only blue bellys), but honestly there have been so many fake "look- my new blue leo morph!!" posts (mostly from beginners that misinterpret juvenile lavender colours or the bluish/greenish eyelid-colouration for true blue pigment) in the past years that I have the feeling the term "blue project" in leos is already a little tainted and overstressed in our breeding society.

That makes it really difficult for the serious ones to come out with what they got so far.. Nevertheless it surely is an interesting topic :).

ps: I really like the lemon gecko's appearrance! Hope it will proove out :).

That gecko is awesome. I really hope they can produce more. I really love those eyes.

I cannot wait until available to the public, I was told by gourmet rodent (after I instantly messaged them trying to get one haha) that besides the ONE being auctioned at the Tinley Park show, no Lemon Frost geckos will be available probably as far as the end of next year :(

I think it's amazing. I thought it was a patadox, but after looking into this I found a video on fb where they show an adult female and hatchling so I'm glad I was wrong. Will definitely be interested in getting my hands on one of these.
