Are you getting an error message of some sort?

You can email me, though I'm not on AOL at the moment. I don't mind if anyone sees my address, I don't use it for much except creating forum accounts - it's DMaculatus

I think he may be getting use to his new home. He has been out in the open sleeping on the hot side for about half a hour now. I hope he adjusts well it's a big change for him. He was kept in a 16qt tub all his life inside a rack, he came out only to breed and be handled. Other then that he was in darkness all the time.

Now he is in a tank so it's a big diffrrence for him. I put brown craft paper on the sides and the back of the tank now. I hope this make him feel more secure plus it should help his eyes. He seems to be sensitive to light and I think it's due to his red eye. I wish I would of got a Leo before he is cool as all heck.

I sent you 3 email with a pic in each email. Hopefully this works now. The pics suck and don't really show off his orange. When he gets a little more comfortable I will try to get better Pics of him.

Goin to the pet store now, gonna get 2 dozen super worms since i still have 9 left from yesterday and I need to get calcium and a vitamin for him. I'm surprised he is roaming around. He keeps pushing his cool hide all over the place lol. He must want his home set up a certain way.

It's funny how he just muscles his cool hide all over the place. He is interesting that's for sure. I'm glad I don't need a lamp and bulb for his cage yet his temps stay between 78 and 94 all day long so he can thermoregulate if he wants. He keeps moving around from hot to cool side then back. He seems kinda restless, I don't know how he sure slept alot yesterday.

My leo actually tried to move his pile of giant rocks around. Just by squirming into the narrowest part and hunching his shoulders up. He nearly succeeded too, I had to make it more stable.

Well I just got back home and he was sitting in the open. I got him another dozen of superworms, a bottle of calcium, vitamin, and a desert background for his tank. It looks alot nicer with the background on there. I tried to offer a superworm but he didn't want it so I guess maybe 3-4 superworms will be his limit on food. I will try again on Sunday and see how many he eats.

I want to get him off the newspaper substrate but I don't have the cash yet. I think I'm gonna do tile tho since it looks so nice. Thanks for all the help everyone I really appreciate it.

Lol I am a dummy. I came back inside and the skin is all the way off his head like a goodie sweatshirt. He cut his tail somehow today, he must of been pushing too hard againt his castle.
That's why he was in that humid hide all day yesterday. He never had a humid hide before so he must of been happy to have it, hence him being in it almos non stop since I got him. I didn't realize how cloudy he looked til now, I haven't seen him after a shed so this is gonna be nice to see his true colors lol.

I thought he looked washed out and cloudy but I have never seen a albino animal shed before. He is going to town trying to get this shed of himself. He won't quit moving.

The poor little guy is wore out lol. He has about half of his skin peeled back to his legs. Now he is laying down taking a break.'he has been at it non stop for about twenty minutes now. Maybe that's why he was moving his hide around. He has it positioned to where he makes a pass thru the castle and hide that he gets the skin on both sides at the same time. Pretty smart guy, might I add he doesn't get that from his dad (me) lol.

This is cool I've never seen a Leo shed before this is cool. I normally hear they do it at night and people don't see it happen alot. I don't know if this is true but he is at it right now. He's also eating the shed as it comes off-gross...

He got all the shed off of him no problem even his toes he did good.
How often do your leos drink water? I have seen him drink once yesterday but not today. His bowl is clean, it is low to the floor so he can easily access it. I would think he would be thirsty after eating the shed skin.

I can't really find good answers on google so I figured I will try here. This is a good thread by the way. Hopefully other noobs stumble across this when looking for info as you guys have been great at answering my questions.

Also I think he has some vision problems, he missed his food numerous times today and it was right infronT of his face. Do they normally do this?
Sorry for all the questions but you guys rock and come thru with solid info.. Thank you

bman.... I went through a lot of pet store hides and by far the Exo Terra MED! is the best I have found! There is a video on YouTube of a 28 year old Leo and that's what he lived in...... so no worry of growing out of it.

It has only one door so they can get complete privacy and dark.... or as said... will lay up against the side walls. Plus.... they ( or mine) will have there head in the door to look around or at you.

Hope this helps..... I worried about the right hides also.

Another thing. When they are shedding you can put moist paper towels under this hide ( warm side) and I have had no problems there also.

You can google these hides and I think they may have them on Amazon if you can't find in a local pet shop.

:main_thumbsup: Ask away, that's what forums are for.

They are desert animals, and don't drink as often as say, a dog, but the main thing is that they tend to drink quickly and when you're not watching. Don't worry, if the water's there he'll get to it. Or sit in it, which is what mine not-so-subtly does if I've let the moist hide dry out the day he starts shedding.

Albinos will be more photosensitive, and tend not to hunt as well in the light as a normal leo. If this is the case just keep the lights lower than usual when you feed him, and try to keep his prey where it can't hide quickly, and he ought to be fine.

Leos may also be a bit less hungry directly before and after a shed, and won't work as hard to get their food.

Ooh yes, mine goes nutty with the cage furniture come sheddin' time, he always manages to pop the lid off his moist hide and then just sort of hang half-in half-out of it for a while. I'm always impressed they manage to shed it all off, though. It's like taking off a coat, ski mask, gloves, socks and snow pants using nothing but your teeth and the furniture. :tongue3:

How's his tail?
