You may have seen my girls' new home. It looks very sleek and clean cut and I feel like the traditional hides/bowls have no place there.

Instead, I've designed some (what I think is) pretty impressive "furniture" out of polymer clay. Right now it's just in the sketching stage, but I plan on putting this together once I get home. Everything will be sealed with acrylic sealer and should be completely washable, whether you want to wash it in the dishwasher or boil it to clean it.

This is the Canopy bed. The canopy part is going to be made of clay, also, not cloth, but that and the "bed" portion will look clothlike. The opening might be a little smaller, but the top of the bed, as well as the bottom of the bed, function as hides.

This is the dining room table. It will function as either the food or the water bowl. I may do some modifications so it can function as both, but I'm unsure about that at this point. Any suggestions are welcome.

This is the shower/bathtub. It functions as the wet hide. The substrate goes in the bathtub) I may have the "curtain" pulled over just a little farther so that there's less space for the humidity to escape..

(keep in mind that, once painted, the coloring won't be nearly as flat as it appears on the drawings..it'll look more lifelike: example - the wood will look like "oak," the cloth will look like "cloth" and so on)

Any suggestions about modifications or other furniture would be graciously accepted. I'm hoping (assuming all goes well when I make the "prototypes" for my leos) that I'll be able to sell these at some point. Would anyone be interested in buying them or is it a silly idea?

That would be interesting. I was thinking of trying some things out when it comes to furniture. I was thinking the two female fatties I am getting need some accessories that more more feminine.

i would be interested in buying some :)
the pieces would have to be large enough for a leo or 2,
but small enough to put in say, a 10gal or a 20gal long.
my 20gal long is getting pretty cramped but i need some new furniture as my 2 seem to get bored rather easily. they enjoy exploring new things even if i only switch out the hides and such every week or 2

I'm itching to get working on this, but I won't have any time until late May/early June *sigh*

Once I get the first ones made I'll definitely post some pictures (along with dimensions) up. The bed, I think, will be made to hold just one leo, but remember under it works as a hide, too.

The shower might be big enough for two...I'll just have to see how it goes. It may also be shaped to fit in the corner--I haven't decided yet

Does anyone have a suggestion about another piece of "human" furniture I could incorporate into the project?

How about bean bag? You can put sand in it to absort heat from the UTH, so the bean bag will be nice and warm~ :)

I thought about that. But I think want to stay away from using cloth. If they soil that, cleaning involves a lot more effort than just a quick wipe-off.

Also, a problem I see with that, is that it serves no real purpose...they can't hide in it, and probably won't like climbing on something so squishy.

I'm glad the gears are turning, though. Any other ideas??

A cup? Of course used as a feeding dish. Perhaps with smaller dimensions than the table. Not too deep but not too shallow.

Cupboards?

I'd like it all to be the same dimension..so maybe...idk...a kiddie pool instead of a cup?

And cupboards are an interesting idea, too..but what would their purpose be?

A hide, possibly make a sink on top which can serve as a water dish? Of course due to height there would have to be stairs.

How about a doggy-house style hide complete with gecko's name over the entrance? :3
This could go with the jungle gym idea if you want to have the pieces as part of a "set". You could call this one "The Backyard Set". The moist hide could look like a green house.

And then then one you already have drawings for could be for the "Mansion Set". It's just a thought.

I'd love to have an Oriental set with pagoda hides and a peaceful koi pond water bowl and Zen garden food dish. And maybe a hide that looks like a grove of bamboo for the moist hide.

...Maybe I should make my own stuff? lol I'm kinda inexperienced with sculpting though.

Hah that sounds incredible! Once I get my "mansion set" built, I'll try for other sets. That's a brilliant idea.
