if ya snooze ya lose....this is why u dont make ur ideas so public until your a little farther along. i wouldnt scrap your project tho, i agree i dont think both can survive but who's to say yours wont be more of a success?? survival of the fittest, let the strong survive. good luck to u both

I don't honestly think either is going to be very profitable the way they are being implemented, personally. Neither is going to be able to measure success in dollars.

It comes down to wanting this to be something the community can be proud of. With such a specific subject matter there is no reason to support having two competing publications.

Perhaps both can set aside their differences and together create a leopard gecko resource that we all can be proud of!

The magazine looks great. I agree with Christina, an editor would be a great asset. Other than that, great job!
The photos look amazing. The games are fun and posting the upcoming shows is a wonderful idea.

The first issue looks great! very clear pictures and descriptions.

I also feel that there is no harm in two different gecko Magazines. By having two amgazines, one could ahve info about one subject, while the other could ahve info about a different subject giving more information for people to use.

I personally see no problem with two Leopard Gecko magazines/news letters or 5 or 10 of them

I do not see it as a competition issue-I see it as more sources of info available

I look forward to enjoying both magazines

You KNEW I was making the magazine and it would be done the 15th, so you decided it was a good idea, and you are releasing yours the 4th?! That is pretty unethical is it not? I really find it amazing. How does everyone else feel?

Hate to break it to you but you are far from the first or last person to come up with ideas for an e-zine. Even a reptile e-zine. You dont own the copyright, and he jumped into production faster, no harm done. Cant be any worse then using peoples ideas and not giving them credit ;)

Good luck to both of you on each of your endeavors, looks like there is no shortage of interested individuals. If I had the patience/want to make mock e-zine into something, I would, but for now they are just fun pictures, and thats how they will stay.

The leopard gecko magazine ran from about April 2008 through July or August (I did the editing) and then it stopped because the person who was putting it out moved on to other things. Anyone is welcome to try again. Meanwhile, Matt Kammerer started a more modest online magazine called Gecko Time which I am also editing. We are about to release our 55th post tomorrow. One article a week has been very workable and the magazine has developed some momentum. In September, for instance, we were in a "so what are we going to publish this week?" mode but now I am scheduled pretty much through the end of January. If anyone would like to write something feel free to contact me at [email protected] or Matt at [email protected].
