Hello

Yesterday when I returned home I found my leopard gecko under a pair of shorts in a different room surrounded by cats (I have 4 cats). He had lost his tail, but besides that everything else appears to be ok. This is the first time he has last his tail. When I found him he was hissing and defensive. I'm just curious to know if I could have guidance specifically with how to help heal as fast as possible and if he looks ok from the images attached.

Sorry about your gecko. The tail will heal on its own. For the next week or so, if there's any way you can get it off the particle substrate (maybe put something on top of the eco earth?) until the raw place closes up it would be helpful. Also, you should figure out how the gecko got out of the cage and how to prevent that in the future.

Thank you, I will remove the substrate immediately. I think the way the cat got the gecko is because the lid was not fully closed to allow for the UVB light to be attached. To prevent this in the future the room is shut off and I have adjusted the tank so that the lid can shut fully.

That's no good.. I'm sorry for your loss. I guess he just didn't have the nutrition to keep going. My condolences
