Leos and sound/loud noise?

Hey everyone - First off, my name is Will and I'm new here :p Lurked for about a week or so doing research on Leos. You guys are awesome and very helpful!

I am going to be picking up my first gecko this evening (first reptile as well). I'm pretty confident in my tank's setup and what to feed it, etc. What I am curious about is - How sensitive are Leopard Geckos to sound? I enjoy my music and while it's not deafening, the little guy will be exposed to loud music on the occasion. He'll be living in my bedroom in the summer, and I have band practice once or twice a week in the room next door. The sound will be muffled but still loud. What do you all recommend? I do not want to stress or startle the little guy/gal or give it a heart attack.

Thanks so much! I'll post pictures of my Leo later tonight :)

I was told that are pretty senstive to bass. I dont know if this is true but I dont want to risk my geckos health over my music.

I have music on quite a bit and sometimes a little loud and my geckos sleep through it :)

So its either not as loud as i think or they find my music boring ;)

I also think their sensitivity to noise would depend on the day to day noise they hear. If you live in a very quiet house and then all of a sudden have something loud it will prolly scare them.

But if you have a moderate amount of noise normally, for example children, TV, computer games etc, then i think they would be used to a certain amount of background noise and some music wouldnt bother them.

Personally i havent found anything i do noise wise has scared them and my geckos live in the living room where they hear the PCs and the TV. I tend to play FPS a lot on the xbox and the sound of guns firing and me screaming obscenities has never disturbed them :p

Same! Mine are the same way -exposed to sounds all the time, just as my dog has been. And all the animals will sleep right through loud techno without an issue.

Between two terrariums
Sudden, low noises (and anything metallic, it seems) definitely scare my leo. The screen door shutting, his cage lid when I slide it off, and the refrigerator starting up all cause him to dash to the nearest hide (or under my legs, if he's out of his cage :tongue3: ) I have to cover him up or talk to him and wait until he feels braver and comes out again.

I think it depends a lot on the gecko and its previous experiences.
