Hi. I have not mastered this genetics thing yet and was wondering what the offspring would be. Mack raptor x raptor Thanks

You have the chance of

RAPTOR
APTOR het Raptor
Tremper albino het Raptor

Mack Snow RAPTOR
Mack Snow albino het Raptor

They will all be an albino of some type but not 100% red eyes. All of the things that make up the Raptor are not tied to each other. The Punnett square will show that. IMO

Negative, this is not true. That is like saying breeding two Yorkshire Terriers can produce something other than Yorkshire Terriers.
Mack Raptor x Raptor will always be 50% chance of raptor and 50% chance of mack raptor

You will not get all RAPTOR's from breeding RAPTOR to RAPTOR, the eclipse trait will not present itself 100% of the time.

I dont understand how you can say raptor x raptor doesnt produce only raptors.

homo eclipse x homo eclipse = 100% homo eclipse
even if it has 25% red eyes its still is homo albino eclipse

I'm right there with you. Eclipse is a recessive trait, right? So how can you not get 100% homo Eclipse from homo Eclipse x homo Eclipse pairing? Even if you get a mix of traditional RAPTOr, Banded RAPTOr, and Reverse Stripe RAPTOr, they're all homo Eclipse. I'm confused. :rolleyes3:

i can verify this raptor x raptor doesn't always produce raptors, raptor is a combo morph, it's not simple recessive like just albino etc, comestimes not all of the traits follow thru. it has several traits, tremper albino, eclipse, patternless, therefore you can get any combo of them to follow thru or none, and it's hard to tell if when you get the super form the super raptor if the red eyes is from the super snow eclipse and albino or if it's from the eclipse from the raptor, therefore only way to tell is to test breed.

example this little guy is an aptor, or possibly 0% eclipse raptor.

here he is now at a few months old

clearly not a raptor and that was from raptor x raptor no hets.

Talbino eclipse snow patternless striped X Talbino eclipse patternless striped = .

Talbino eclipse normal.
Talbino eclipse aberrant.
Talbino eclipse striped.
Talbino eclipse reverse striped.
Talbino eclipse patternless striped.[RAPTOR]
Talbino eclipse snow.
Talbino eclipse snow aberrant.
Talbino eclipse striped.
Talbino eclipse snow reverse striped.
Talbino eclipse snow patternless striped.[Snow RAPTOR].

All offspring will be trait carryers of Aberrant,Striped,Reverse striped,Patternless striped,Tangerine.

only thing is eclipse is somethign that sometimes doesnt' carry over, from my dealings and research, hence aptors out of raptors, or snake eyes (not 100% eclipse) etc. i think eclipse is one of those incomplete ones too as it's not 100% will carry over. but that's just my observations.

Eclipse is recessive, and so is albino. So a RAPTOR X a RAPTOR will produce 100% RAPTORS. A snake eyed RAPTOR is equal genetically to a full eyed RAPTOR. Some eclipses even seem to hatch out with out much or any of they're eyes "eclipsed", but they are still homozygous eclipse.

You don't get 100% visual eclipse but eclipse can be express visually from 1%to 100% so not alway easy to see in the eye but it will be there to be passed on.That's why i reframe from saying ruby eyed coz it pointless calling a 1% eclipse a Ruby eyed. That's why i say Eclipse and Albino eclipse as a eclipse is express in varyed percentages.

well i can tell you my aptor came from raptor x raptor, absolutely no snake eye, is flat albino eye. so therefore the eclipse gene did not carry over, in the traditional sence, so that is why it's going to a breedign project to see if that x raptor will give 100% raptors if so, it is a 0% eclipse, however the person he's going to, also had one from a raptor x raptor breeding hoping that is female if so then they are 0% eclipse raptors if things pan out, but that one looks much diff. than any of the other raptors i've hatched, i'd be more inclined to say aptor from raptor x raptor, therefore ecipse dosn't always carry over, and every breeder i've talked to says sometimes the eclipse just doesn't' carry over, it's common. i've been told this by RT himself...

genetics are never 100% you have flaws and stuff that doesn't come out with the %'s, ie.. 50% doesnt' mean egg 1 will be this egg 2 will be that, means each egg is heads or tails for that, u can get several heads or several tails etc..

if genetics were 100% we would all only have normals.

See that i don't agree with.Breed a Talbino eclipse patternless striped X Talbino eclipse patternless striped you DON'T get 100%Talbino eclipse patternless striped. You DO get 100%Talbino & Eclipse but you DON'T get 100%Patternless striped it possible you can but it's not guaranteed 100% of the time. And with out Talbino,Eclipse AND Patternless striped you DON'T have a RAPTOR.

but then again you're tlaking about a seperated eclipse gene, that's been extracted and bred pure eclipse, some of the eclipse coming from raptors etc, are not the extracted eclipse gene... so either i have a huge genetic whoops and a 0% eclipse raptor or someone is wrong :D.

Do you have pictures of the parents? Did you have an egg mix-up?

I have a very hard time believing that if both those RAPTOrs were homo Eclipse (which they'd have to be for you to call them RAPTOrs), that you got an APTOr.

both of my females are raptors bred to the same raptor male, and it's only been that one all the rest have been raptors that have hatched since, and it was her first year, did not mix up the eggs.

raptor---eclipse001.jpg

u can clearly see the males eyes, and the female is a snake eye raptor.

GEDC0226-1.jpg

even ron tremper himself has said that the eclipse sometimes does not carry over raptor is a combo morph, which means it is possible to have some traits not carry over.

im willing to bet that as an adult any non-eclipse eye gecko that is produced from homo-eclipse parents will show all of the other eclipse trait markers, like white nose and feet. Just because the gecko doesnt express the trait doesnt mean it isnt homozygous for the trait. The "aptor" pictured is still homozygous for the eclipse trait. Unlike the stripe genetics that raptors carry, which are incomplete recessive, eclipse is simple recessive and has no choice but to be passed on in this situation.
