Making a 2nd level?

Hey, I'm thinking about making a 2nd level in my 20gal long. I'm wondering what you guys used for the 2nd levels in your tanks. Any useful materials I could use would be nice to know about, and I also would like to know if it is safe to use cardboard, hot glue guns, and popsicle sticks. If one or more of these items are unsafe for the use with live animals, please tell me what i could use in its place.

It's made out of two 12" tiles which sandwich a mini UTH for heat. THe "legs" are about 5" tall and I made them from ceramics but on my other upstairs I use wooden dowels that are sitting in pieces of PVC (white plastic pipe) to keep them from falling over.

Your materials that you're thinking of using may be a bit too flimsy for the upper level, depending on how you use them.

hey hey. My dad just built me a wooden platform with wooden legs, i added a ladder. And there yea go, a second story leo home.

Thanks for the ideas. Actually, what I was thinking about doing, is with the cardboard, layer the bottom with popsicle sticks so it can't bend and is sturdier(or however you spell it). I would also do the same thing with the legs.

I'm using a corner shelf as the basis for my rock wall: http://www.geckoforums.net/showthread.php?t=15361. Maybe something similar would work for you?

Anything you use should be able to be washed. So that rules out cardboard. Heck you could use legos if you wanted. But if you plan on heating the 2nd level you'll want to go with tile like mentioned above.

Legos? Hmmmmmm....My brother has plenty of thos....I have some too and anyway, he probably wouldnt let me use his. I'll look into that . Thanks! And Paulnattress, VERY nice rock wall! Can't wait to see it!
