My geckos do not seem to want to do anything with each other.. the male doesnt seem interested and the female isnt. what is going on... is the male not interested because she is not ovulating? Because the female is walking right by him or something and he just sits there. Any ideas of whats going on? They are both over a year..

thanks

Ditto what M&K said.....also there is no way no matter how mad they make you to make them breed. They will do it when they are ready. You can just try and make everything conducent to the breeding time, but until she is ovulating you just have to wait.

Some of them don't like to breed when anyone's watching. Two of my 4 males are like that. I never see them breed but the females have scratches on them the next day and they lay eggs.

There are no guarantees with breeding, but very likely, once she's ovulating, they will breed. Just be patient (which is SOOOOOOOOO much easier said than done. ;)

The female gives off a unique scent, not detectable by us, when she's ovulating. This scent turns a switch on in the male geckos brain and they're off to the races...

Your female is not ovulating!

If she's over a year old she'll probably ovulate this year at some point. We have a couple of females that never laid their first season but started their second season. Sometimes you just have to be patient! LOL

I had a female that would run from any male that I put her with even when she was ovulating. Everyone kept telling me to be patient and when she decided to breed she would. Well last week she laid a nice big egg ( I hadn't even realized that they had finally mated, I was just happy she had stopped that constant barking at the male,LOL) and it when I candled it this week it is fertile. I know waiting can be really hard but it is all we can do. That first egg is worth all the waiting.
