My enigma is a darling girl. With her little head tilt it's almost like seeing her stand there with hands on hips saying "hi mom, can I have a worm?" She has the sweetest smile when she snaps it up, even if it takes a few swipes, so pleased with herself. Their unique challenge is NO reason to feed a diet consisting of exclusively waxworms. Plain and simply put- it is not healthy. Easy is a poor excuse IMO.

Yup cuz he's probably addicted now, and will eventually become obese. Many a times have people been told about the effect of feeding too many waxworms.

And this thread is a good example of how important research is.
To the OP, if you had researched you would have realised engimas have issues and stayed clear of them as your first gecko.
Im sorry your disappointed in what you got, but that happens if you dont take some time to research.

Im also wondering where you bought it from. Because the seller should of either made sure you knew of the issues and had enough experience to deal with it, OR MADE you aware of the issues and explained to you. Shame on whoever it is.

whooaaaa you got it all wrong, i knew about the issue trust me i knew about it before i got it, slowly im trying to get him back into mealworms, but yes he is addicted to waxworms, and the issue is not as bad as others trust me i had worse, this is not my first gecko, and the one i brought it from has nothing to do with anything, have i done reaserch on feeding them waxworms no (so shame on me, and i will be doing so) will i try my best to get him back yes i will, easy is not what i was worring about, at first he had a great diet, ate great then all of asudden i see a drop in his diet, he wasent eating much (if u find my other post on him not eating as much) he started dropping grams and that dont fly with me when hes only 40 grams, he is 5 months old almost 6 and i dident like that, so one day he ate a wax worm and he just started eating again from there, its only been a week on them right now and he back to looking good again, now im trying to shift it again back to his normal diet (also i dident ralize since the temps. droped here they also droped in my rack about 10 degresse but its now back up to 90 to 95 degreese and there eating habits are becoming normal again) so yes shame on me and i will take fult and learn from my own misstakes no excusses thanks

Try not feeding him for a week to get him really hungry and then introduce a combo of crickets and meal worms.Thats the danger of giving all wax worms they get used to them. Its just like eating one lay chip

I'm all about the mixed diet thing, if he doesn't go right off the bat for a mealie or a cricket, maybe MAYBE you can try getting him into feeding mode with 1 small waxie then give him a mealie or cricket from there on.

For the op... maybe you can find some good information on Enigma Syndrom. I know there's a bunch on the forum but just go a google search (Aw heck I'll do it for ya http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=&q=enigma+syndrom&aq=f&aqi=g2g-m1&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=CVKU4_cHBTKOPKqCcygSJ-fGIDQAAAKoEBU_QbdY_#hl=en&&sa=X&ei=XcLBTPeqHoO8lQfnoKTLCQ&ved=0CBMQvwUoAQ&q=enigma+syndrome&spell=1&fp=cac716aade6fa416 ). I'm sure you'll find all you need to know.

Good luck.

Question:

What I've assumed from day one is a SHTCT has shown a lot of the same problems since I got him.

He does eat well, especially now that I'm feeding supers as opposed to crickets, and I've noticed that he does tilt his head slightly on occasion when hunting.

What other problems(?) could it be that cause this? He's healthy, eats regularly, even if it does take him some time, and all that. I rescued him from a neighbor at my old place would would leave him in his car all the time(god, that pissed me off), but he's been living with me for almost a year now.

Any thoughts?

Sorry to hijack the thread, but it's something I've wondered about, but never really thought about making a post for.

If you're certain the gecko isn't an enigma there could be some damage from being exposed to high temps(being left in a car could do this). Either damage to the nervous system itself or even to the eyes, giving vision problems. If the gecko is eating and doing fine it's probably nothing serious but since you don't know his whole history there's a whole host of problems or previous diseases that could have given him this "handicap."
