I have a 9 month old High-Yellow Leopard Gecko, and at the local pet store i saw a cool black leo, and i was wondering if i can mix the two species in the same 25 gallon tank.

Yes:main_yes: or No:main_no:

They aren't actually different species just different genetics. Yes you can mix if they are the same size, but if they aren't only bad things will come of it.

is it solid black and are you sure it is a leopard gecko? also the size depends on the species and gram weight

ok well i think you are confusing the word "species" with "morph" or "pattern" just because two leopard geckos are different color, patterns or are different "morphs" does not mean they are different species.

you said they were one inch different in size, well how big is your high yellow gecko? like how long and how fat?

Remember that when you get the new leo you will need to keep it separate from the one you have now for at least a month to make sure no one is sick. Once you're ready to put them together, there's always a chance they won't get along and then they'll need to be kept separately.

he is about 6.5 inches long, his chest is about 1.5 inches across and tail is about 1 inch across.

the black one didnt have that fat of a tail, about .5 inches, was about 5inches in length, and chest was about 1 inch across. now he was in a cage and this is from eye comparasion

i agree you will have to quarantine the new gecko for 60-90 days.

is the other gecko a baby? your geckos looks like a juvenile or sub adult.

well after quarantine try out putting them together in the same enclosure. i would house males separately and a couple of females are ok together

and even if they are not both males, always be prepared to house them separately if they start fighting or one is not getting enough food
