This morning upon post shed inspection this studly male reassured my decision to keep him as my holdback for 2012...

View attachment 43477

Gene 1: Mack Snow
Gene 2: Reverse Stripe
Gene 3: Funky Jungle
Gene 4: Bell
Gene 5: Eclipse

Adding the sixth gene next year via W/Y Bell possible het Eclipse... Going to be fun! :D

is it possible his sides split cause he just has too many genes packed in there?

lol jk, very cool project and sweet looking gecko.

Very nice looking gecko, I got one like it except I don't got the funky jungle gene :)

Adding W&Y into the mix should be fun, good luck with your projects next year. :main_thumbsup:

very nice! may i ask you how you have been able to single out the recessive gene. are you able to reproduce it. is it in your experience a co-dom, dom or recessive? is the guy guaranteed to produce reversed stripe offspring?

Thanks a lot everyone!

I'm assuming you got the idea that the Reverse Stripe in him came from my FJ line... The Reverse Stripe in him is from breeding the parents together which were from MSFJ x Reverse Stripe Radar... It has been my understanding that Reverse Stripes are recessive... So, yes, he is guaranteed to produce them as long as the female carries the gene...

I do find it confusing why all Eclipse do not produce Reverse Stripes when they are an 'ingredient' in producing Eclipse from 'scratch' [Stripe x RS]... I think there's still some stuff yet to see...

Awesome, awesome gecko. What's the history of your Funky Jungle line? Where did it originate?

2006 was my first breeding season... I had one main male and two females...

Male - Aberrant Mack Snow het Bell produced by you
Female 1 - 'Classic' Aberrant Bell produced by Reptile Industries
Female 2 - Blizzard 'snake eyes' produced by unknown

The first pairing produced some nice Bells and one Snow Bell which later became known as Mack Daddy Bell who produced a lot really nice offspring... He was the only gecko held back from this pairing...

The second pairing produced my Mack Snow het Blizzard group... One of the Macks was a wildly pattern Jungle, but being my first season I didn't know what was the norm for Jungles or any morphs for that matter... I held back a pair of Mack hets for Blizzard and one normal het for Blizzard...

The next season's pairing included...

MS Bell group
Male - Aberrant Mack Snow Bell 2006 holdback
Female 1 - 'Classic' Aberrant Bell produced by RI
Female 2 - 'Classic' Jungle Bell produced by RI

MS Blizzard group
Male - Aberrant Mack Snow het Blizzard 2006 holdback
Female 1 - Blizzard 'snake eyes' produced by unknown
Female 2 - Jungle Mack Snow het Blizzard 2006 holdback
Female 3 - Normal het Blizzard 2006 holdback

The first female in the Bell group failed to produce viable eggs the entire season... Female 2 produced a handful of really nice Snow Bells and Bells... Most of which were Jungles, but none were like the ones I'd produce from the MS Blizzard group...

All three females in the group produced these wild patterned Jungles and they were all Macks... At this point I start thinking I've got something special, but still new in the hobby I didn't have enough experience to holdback these geckos... I hatched out way more geckos than I anticipated... Most were sold to the local pet store at $30 each...

The goal in the MS Blizzard project was met and I produced some MS Blizzards... They were really cool, but I was really into my Bells and wanted to work with them more... After that crazy season I swore off breeding more than one female at a time and scrapped the MS Blizzard project... This also meant losing the yet to be named Jungle project as I knew it came from this group...

The next season a friend I had sold geckos to hatched out some white geckos from my Bells I sent... It was pretty much pandemonium as they were sure neither parent was a Mack... I was thrilled! We didn't think they were Bell Blazings, but a 'super' form of the Bells I had been calling 'Black Spots'... Well I'm pretty sure they were just SS Bells and eggs got messed up, but I wanted to find out for myself... I reacquired the male he used [Mack Daddy Bell] and bred him to a daughter MS Bell from the previous season... At this point I'm sure they are het Blizzard and am expecting to not only hatched BBB, but SSBBB... With each white gecko with solid red eyes hatched I came closer to realizing they were not Blizzards and the parents were not hets...

Yet determined to absolutely prove my Bells were or were not carrying the Blizzard gene, I reacquired another gecko... This time it was a MS Blizzard from the '07 season... At the worst I would make hets for BBB so I paired here with one of Mack Daddy Bell's '07 offspring a really nice Jungle Bell... To my surprise they produced a couple of Funky Jungles... I decided to holdback two Mack FJ het BBB females and one Jungle het BBB female...

In 2009 I bred one of the FJ Mack het BBB females to Mack Daddy Bell... Still trying to prove out MDB as het for Blizzard I was not even expecting what I'd see in come out of the first clutch... A Mack Snow Funky Jungle Bell! The clutchmate was an even bigger shock as it was a Funky Jungle Bell! That was the first non Mack Snow FJ proving it not to be linked to Macks only...

Later that year I sent the funky bunch away on a breeding loan... In 2010 I received the pair that would produce the gecko shown above... :main_thumbsup:

I hope it makes sense as it kind of just spewed out... I totally didn't intend to write this much.... :main_laugh:

He looks great and he grew fast! Good job w/ him.
Alot of mack snows hatch that sporadic funky jungle pattern. I always thought it would be a fun project to try to isolate from the snows.
