My First Lock Ever!

I just snapped these. Sorry about the fuzziness, but I took it in the dark in my herp room(lights are off for the night) and didn't want to disturb them too much. This is my first ball python pairing, ever! That's Monty my 100% het pied male and Kuari, a possible het pied female(both have markers). I know the first locks are never a guarantee of a clutch but I'm excited and encouraged! Had to share. :main_thumbsup:

Snake sex isn't all that eventful, lol. They lock tails and stay that way for a few hours. Not much movement.

Thanks Layton. With balls it can be hard to tell, they will copulate without the female actually being in ovulation so you just have to keep pairing them until you're sure she's gravid. I am contemplating bringing her into work to Ultrasound her. If she is ovulating now(and I doubt it it's early in the season for that, most females start around late Jan) I would expect eggs around March. Could be longer though. I intend to keep pairing them until she has her post ovulation shed.

Yeah if all works out we should get eggs around the same time. Blame me all you want, I'm already looking at picking up a lesser male and a spider for my other two girls who will go this year.
