What irked me is when Mexicans were specifically singled out. Everyone has the right to say what they'd like, but at the end of the day this is a reptile forum where we work hard to make everyone feel welcome. I think this is a topic that walks the line, and I'd really hate for someone to walk away from this with hard feelings.

Well, this section is called "rants and raves". Not "ONLY rants and raves about reptiles"
No one was being racist or crossed the line. I was only speaking of Mexicans because that is the largest group of illegals that we have here. Now, if this thread turned into bashing of a certain race, then it would be too far. So far, everyone has been civil and respectful

Val wasn't addressing anyone here with her comments. Instead of issuing warning that could lead to a temporary banning she asked that you guys respect others' feelings.
I can tell you now if we can't play nice warnings will be handed out, and this thread will be closed.

Try to put yourself in the shoes of a Mexican American (or your own nationality) that is here legally and can't get their family here to the states, and then read again what has been posted. You're not talking to a buddy on the phone or in person here, you are talking on a public forum. What has been said already by a few can be hurtful. We don't want to alienate our fellow members do we?
We all want this forum to be a fun place to be, and yes be able to rant here a little bit when we need, but not to hurt other's feelings.
That is the only thing Val and I are talking about. So instead of arguing with moderators about this, post your opinion about the topic at hand, but lets keep it off one nationality of people.

I'm still not seeing what the big issue is here. Or where these unjustifiable ban threats are coming from. Nobody singled out mexicans other than the story about the professor, which whom was justifiably terminated for his disgusting actions. These folks and myself included were just stating our opinions on illegal immigration... period. If ban threats are going to be thrown around for stating opinions maybe it is time we call this the rants and raves "about reptiles section."

You know what go ahead and send me a warning. Illegal immigrants, specifically illegal mexicans suck! I will not sit quietly and eat it anymore! If it were other people we were having problems with I would bust them out too! The 5 people that were all using my social security number in 2003 were all from down south. I am not making things up to make them look bad. I'm just venting because I am tired of them.
My family had to go through hardships just like everyone elses and they never took advantage of other people to get by. Besides if offending people is against the TOS why is Robin allowed on this site (this is a joke).

Lyndsey, what makes you think these violations are falling through the cracks? Just because we don't make a public spectacle out of other members warnings, doesn't mean things have fallen through the cracks. Since you are a moderator on another forum, surely you know how difficult it can be to read every word on every post.
