My male gecko is over 70grams but he doesnt seem to be interested in breeding my females. i have had him in my females cage for a little over a day now and i havnt seen any signs of breeding. Any ideas why he's not breeding?
You don't necessarily need to cool leopard geckos for them to ovulate. It's early days yet for the leo breeding season. I just put my groups together (mine stay together all season) and no one's ovulating yet. I usually expect the first eggs some time in Feb. and the first hatches April/May.
the male thats not breeding yet i have planed to breed two other females. should i put the two females and one male in one cage or just move the male between the two females cages?
Check to see if the females are ovulating, if you aren't sure what to look for, google up "leopard gecko ovulation" for pictures.
One of the things first time breeders have to learn is patience, I had to learn it the hard way. I know how exciting it is to have it all planned in your head and you want them to breed and pump out the eggs right away. But it doesn't always work out that way, you gotta wait for females to ovulate, and sometimes even when they ovulate they can play hard to get. Sometimes you have a male that's lazy and simply "don't feel like it" just yet. So I'd say give them time, wait for your females to ovulate first, then attempt to introduce them again.
