safely in a cage. he did not free handle ANY of his hots no matter how "docile" they were. do not get mad but i think tom was an idiot for free handling that albino western diamondback. all of my friends hots were on tongs, hooks or tubed (when he was working with them). he was very professional and kept with all of his safety protocols.
Lol, why would i get mad? I'm not Tom so what do i care? Trust me, all i was worried about was keepin my good 10 ft. distance! lol.. He's the one thats been working and handling them as a profession for over 40 years now, so let him be the big tough guy and do it like it's nothin! lol
On a lighter note, I don't necessarily see it as him bein an idiot tho... If he knows what he is doing and knows his animals and has over 40 years of experience, then why couldn't he choose to pick up a rattlesnake and hold it with his bare hands..? I'm not defending him or anything, i mean like i said, thats him, not me, he can do what he wants, lol... If thats the way he chooses to handle certain snakes, then so be it... he's still alive for over 40 years now, so the more power to him, and must be doin something right! lmao ...thats kinda like Bill Haast (for those that don't know who that is, do your research, lol, he is the man when it comes to snakes)... Bill Haast handles almost all of his snakes with his bare hands (well, has stopped handling venomous ones since 2003), cuz he knows what he is doing, and has a feel for it from doin it his whole life... altho i think he has the record for the most venomous snake bites or somethin, heh..
I must say tho, watching Tom just slide out a tub with a Monacled Cobra in it, create a decoy/distraction with one hand for the snake to watch while he grabs the snake with lightning speed with his other bare hand is quite impressive! And the whole while, calm as can be, like it's nothing... and then show us, and then put it back, and walk down a little bit further and do the same thing with a rattlesnake, a few different vipers, a black mamba, etc... all like it was nothing, and completely flawlessly with no effort, was pretty awesome.
