yeah I went and bought some styrofoam and also had access to some foam that was used in packaging my girlfriend's vacuum. I carved it down with a styrofoam carving tool that I bought at a craft store and I'll be filling in some of the odd spots with can foam. I'll be building the staircase in the back to have a hide (thus that huge hole in the back) looking like a Pueblo Indian rock wall ruin, and the hides are going to basically look like a rock wall inspired by the mittens in Monument Valley. still have a lot to do... thanks for the compliments

what do you coat the styrofoam in? Just paint? Let me know I may want to make one.

After I affix the pieces together with canned foam I'll be coating it with tile grout. I'll be using colored grout to give it a reddish brown color and if after that I'm not happy with the color I'll be topping that with acrylic paint. The grout will be sealed with grout sealer, hopefully the grout will wear well, it will keep the geckos from beating it up too badly.

That sounds just like how I made my fake rock piece. Here's how I did mine > Link

It looks neat. How is the gecko supposed to get out of the dip by the ramp and the ledge above the hide entrance?

That ramp isn't the actual ramp I'll be using, it's just there for the visual (it's actually going to be much longer than that) I'll be filling in the dips and crevaces with canned foam, the ledge above the hide on the far right will have a step that leads down to the ground carved into the side of the hide.

if you use tile grout it shouldn't be toxic after it dries and you seal it, just don't allow it into your tank until after it's dried and aired out for a while
