His name is cheech and I have sexed him and he is a male I have put him on paper towels I think I'm going to wait until I know more about them before I get a second gecko because he is only a baby now what worms would you recommend for him and does he nee anything to climb on even though they don't really climb vertically I just need some advice because it's my first lizard

Mealworms, butterworms, hornworms, (occasional waxworms), silkworms are all good choices. There are many others aswell, it all depends on what area youre in and what your local petstores carry.

In my experience, my geckos love to climb and explore. Check out the 'do-it-yourself' section for some homemade decor ideas.

Since Cheech is a male you're not going to house anything with him. Males will fight when housed together, males and females can also fight and will breed even if they are still very young.

If you don't already have them, grab 2 probe thermometers and attach one on the floor of the hot and cold side so you know exactly what the temperatures are. Sitting in a corner instead of resting in hides can be a sign that the temperatures aren't right. So make sure the temps are good and try a food item that moves around more than mealworms and see if he's interested. Crickets and roaches are good options.

Thats my opinion. I feel its safest for everyone. Especially such a newbie. And if hes right, he has a MALE GECKO.
From what I've read, males should never be housed together, no matter the size of the tank. (He's new and probably doesnt have the skills to sex it yet, so why take that chance and tell him if he buys a second gecko, it could work out?)
I'm asking you to please stop posting rude, useless comments.

like i said in my pm.
your giving bad advice.
you clearly do not know much yet. the comment wasnt rude. it was for the good of people that need good answers to there questions.

and you didnt say males shouldnt be housed together. or he shouldn't house them together for now.
you said GECKOS SHOULD NEVER BE HOUSED TOGETHER. which is just untrue.

please stop posting wrong answers to questions you are unaware of.

The problem with gecko care is that it is a very opinion based 'science'.
Recommending someone not house his male with other geckos is not bad advice, as you can see from above posts I was not the only one who said that.
I'd appriciate it if you could read ALL the posts, and not assume that I am 'ignorant'. This doesnt help Matt.

It is opinion based. My opinion is to keep the animal as healthy as possible.
1. No pairing until breeding weight
2. No group females until juvinile
3. No loose substrate
4. No wax worms (or sparse once a month treat)
5. No hornworms unless farm raised
6. Get a thermometer so you know how hot the floor is. Should be 86-90F for proper digestion.
7. Get along with the community. If you feel someone else is giving bad advice, go out of your way to email the OP with your opinion on husbandry. There is no need to publicly attack eachother.

These are all great points!

Thank you :)

I agree, setup looks great.

Now please, please, please correct me if I'm wrong, but from that picture, I see your Blizzard on the upper left, going into its hide. On the bottom left, however (and here's where I'll probably be wrong) I see a snout sticking out of the coconut hut. ??????

Does anyone else see that from the photo, or am I just going crazy?
