I need advice for this. I'm looking to buy this gecko and it's terrarium at a incredible deal. The gecko, 10Gal, UTH and the heating bulp for 60$. The problem is that I don't know if the gecko is healthy. Like expected, the kid said that he's in perfect condition. But EVERYTHING is wrong and dirty in this terrarium. I almost want to buy it to give him a better future poor thing. He's supposed to be bought the 7th of september 2008.

There's a picture. I already have a set of repti-carpet, wet room, caves, thermometer and all the things it miss.

I am definitely a sucker for any baby in need. For his age he is really small and skinny. I would take him. HE may just need a nice house and some good food. He is beautiful and deserves a new home.

looks like he just need someone who will feed him more often. From what I can see on the picture I would not be scared to buy him, but something might come up when you have a clooser look at him, but if I was you I would defenetly consider buying him.

JUST remember to keep him sepereate from your other animals for a period to make sure he's fine.

Yeah that's why I glad to have the terrarium with it since I only have one for my two female. Who knows, maybe if he turn out heatly and can gain weight considerably he could breed with one of my females. Since I allready own a incubator. But right now the important thing is to give him a good home and get rid of this filthy substrate and put a clean repti-carpet.

He dosn't look to bad at all. Although you may find a hidden problem later, he look rather healthy. I would do it.

I can promise you that the leo being on the dirt is not bad and will not cause a health issue if that is what you are worried about as far as a "hidden problem" down the road... The animal picture looks pretty healthy even though it could stand to eat daily... It has wide eyes and the overall body condition is not bad at all...

I rescued Buttercup from a kid who got sick of taking care of her, so I ending up with a gecko and 20l for $50.00. She was on calci sand and the tank was soo dirty, but now 2 months later she is healthy and on tile. I ended up putting her in my 4x2x2 viv and selling the 20l on CL for $30.00 (after I cleaned and disinfected it, of course). So in reality I only paid $20.00 for her and she is much better off with me. I would love to get her a couple girl friends someday (of cource I would quarintine them all first). I think I could fit 2 or 3 more in my viv. I hope you end up getting him. Good Luck.

Thanks for the reply. I bought the little things :) ... poor thing it ate more then 10 cricket in about an hour.

I have a question about that topic. Can a gecko over eat till they guet sick? Cause after 10 crickets I stopped putting some in. Also they never gave him any calcium :( so I put a little bowl and filled it with calcium/mineral. Since I did that, do I still need to powder the crickets? And if yes do I powder all the cricket every days?

Thanks for your help. I bought my two other gecko full grown so I'm need with the baby hehe. With them I only powdered the crickets every second time.

Mine never had any calcium or vitamins either. It is a miracle she is still alive. She is about 2 and I have had her a couple of months now. I keep plain calcium in a dish in her viv. She only eats about 3 times a week ( I give her bugs every night-sometimes she eats then, sometimes not). She is up to 67 grams so she is not starving. I think they will only eat until they are full, but I could be wrong. I feed Buttercup until she refuses to eat anymore. Good luck with him. He looks georgeous! Keep us updated. I love happy endings.

He is kinda hard to handled. They had children so I'm guessing he was harrassed. He still ate around 10 cricket today.

There's a picture of it terrarium after the extreme make-over hahaha.

Enjoy!

He looks pretty good. Make sure he is getting some vitamin D3 as well as calcium. How much D3 is somewhat open to debate as you'll see if you search the forums. Sometimes a gecko will eat so much it will vomit, but it quickly learns not to do that.
