Ok...so I bought a leopard gecko in september for my son and he still hasn't warmed up to us. He definately seems to see us as predators. Does anyone have any advice? What can we do or what should we do? Thanks for the help

If the thermometer on the glass says 90-95, then unless you have a probe on the ground, the floor may be much hotter. That may cause problems for the gecko.

:main_thumbsup: You'll want to get a digital thermometer with a probe and put that probe on your floor where the gecko spends most of its time. You can get those for between $6 to $10 depending on the brand and the store you buy it from.

As for the gecko's attitude: where'd it come from (pet store, breeder, etc..) and how old is it? Very young geckos or ones who haven't been socialized much are going to be wary of people. All you can do is let it get used to your scent.

Keep your hand in the cage for about 5 minutes a night. Don't move it. Let the gecko come over and lick/sniff you. Let it climb around on your hand. After a week or so of this, when the gecko climbs on your hand, go ahead and lift it out of the cage. It's a long, time consuming process, but in the end you have a gecko who isnt afraid of you :)

Ive had Freya since July last year and she is still a scaredy cat. Shes only just starting to tolerate being picked up.

When we first got her she was still very small, maybe a few weeks old, and the first time i picked her up she churped at me and wriggled like mad.

My other geckos are fine with being handled and seem to enjoy it but Freya still has her tantrums sometimes.

Its just a case of slowly wins the race. Give em time and keep at it. They learn ur not a threat and that it can be quite pleasant to be picked up and have a little climb around :)
