I just found out that I suddenly developed an allergy to--wait for it--POPCORN!

I'm a college student, guys...those of you who are or who have been know that popcorn is basically a staple food in our diets. And suddenly, I'm allergic to it. Never have been before.

Is it a different brand you tried? I use to be allergic to some brands of tuna and I am allergic to non organic watermelon (and any one that knows me outside of these forums knows how I feel about organic lol). :main_robin:

That's just the strange thing. Never had any sort of reaction to any sort of popcorn. Usually ate microwavable. Came home, had some air-popped corn from our air-popper (the kind you buy in the huge bag of untreated [i've always assumed] kernels). That's what gave me the reaction, not the microwave kind.

Idk. It's one of my favorite veggies, actually, so I'll be really disappointed if I can't eat that either.

That is odd..Think u are the first I have ever heard of allergic to popcorn hmmm they do say however that every 7 yrs or so your body chem changes and you can develope new and unusual allergies u never had b4. Maybe this is one of them? What a bummer. I love popcorn hope it doesn't happen to me :/

Maybe it'll pass eventually. When i was about 6-7 i developed an allergic reaction(really bad) to shelled sea food. I tried it again when i was 11 and have been fine ever since. I hope your case is the same, good luck.

ive suddenly became allergic in the past year to birds and rabbits (badly),

i am allergic to guinea pigs too and at the time i had one

Strange allergies suck, especially if you suddenly become allergic to a food you love. I wonder if you could still just eat the microwave kind?

My weird allergy is coffee. I've never drank the stuff so I don't know what would happen if I did... but the smell alone gives me a migraine headache and then my throat starts to close up. x.x

Just mac & cheese, I'm afraid. I'm a vegetarian and there aren't any meatless ramen noodles

Quite some time ago I knew a little boy who was allergic to popcorn - made his ears itch.
Bummer about the allergy. When I was little and didn't ever, ever wash my face :tongue3: , I would get an itchy red spot if I got cream cheese or sour cream on my face and didn't wipe it off right away.
