Oh my aching gums

You may have noticed that I've been on here a lot tonight. Well, at 5 this afternoon I had gum graft surgery on one tooth. It wasn't too bad, although the amount of force used to get the graft off the roof of my mouth was surprising. I've just been lying on the bed tonight trying to distract myself with GF and the WBC. Both are going well. I'm taking tomorrow off and hope to be back to normal by Fri.

Mainly, because I want to have all my teeth when I'm 80. It's done when the gums at the base of the teeth start to recede to the point where the tooth nerve may get exposed. They take a (small) slice from the roof of my mouth and sew it over the receding place. Since it's a graft from my own tissue, it should attach and grow normally. As you can see from my profile, I'm not exactly a kid. Sorry to gross people out. I'm off from work today, but I have to say I only had one motrin last night, didn't even fill the percocet perscription and I'm really fine --just not into talking too much.

Aliza, I hope you feel better! I've been through a ton of oral surgeries myself, they are NO FUN. I can't believe you're surviving on Motrin, you're a tough cookie! Relax, and eat a lot of soup.

Oh no. I've been putting off making an appointment with an oral surgeon because I need a graft where a piercing barbell eroded my gum line. This isn't getting me in any more of a hurry!

I'm actually doing great. Only took one motrin last night, and none since. It only aches a bit after I eat. Anyone who needs to have it done, just bite the bullet (sorry) and get it over with. I took a story tape on my ipod, closed my eyes and pretended I wasn't there. I'm nearly back to normal now.
