Going to get a 40 gallon breeder tank and divide it down the middle. Going to keep our year old male Leo on one side and want to get something else with the same housing and feeding needs as a Leo for the other side.

Suggestions?

The only difference is with fat tails they require more humidity.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT, put either species of water dragon in a space the size of a 20 gallon tank. That is way too small, even for a baby. Also, water dragons are pretty much the complete opposite of leopard geckos in care requirements, no way that would work out.

My advice would be an african fat tailed gecko as well.

Any other suggestions other than a Fat Tail? I am new to geckos but they seem to look about the same as Leo's....mind you I am new and trying to get educated...please explain the differences.

Fat Tails seem to be a little more mellow than Leopard Geckos. They do look very similar but ours are all easy to handle as opposed to a lot of Leos who want to leap from your hands.

This is why you don't take a 10 year old kid's advice. Water dragons get huge, so don't do this.

Get an AFT or another leo.

The cage size sounds perfect for an Underwoodisaurus milii (google for this to find pictures and more informations). It`s a nice and friendly species with nearly identical requirements as a leopardgecko.
