People with websites with nothing listed and say email for availability

But then days later still have not answered your email asking if they had something in stock or even better, the ones who respond asking "Why are you inquiring? Are you looking to buy something?"

If you have a website, list what you have for sale on it!

Why say to contact you and then never respond or respond with a stupid reply?

And this is not just one person.
3 different people never responded and one other person responded with the "why are you inquiring" garbage.

Very frustrating!

I can understand it, if your going to pay for a website and put the time into making it, why not put up the geckos you have for sale to bring in some money?

Eh, who knows!

Maybe just because it's cool to be able to link to your own website in your signiture.

Teach them a lesson and don't buy from them.

Exactly, personally I don't like it when they say email for availability. To me it seems like they're trying to be a bit shiesty

Yup. They read people. They see how desperate you sound. How inexperienced you sound, and they base the prices off of that.

steve, if it says "please email for availability" (unless i know the breeder VERY well) i do not bother. if they can not take the time to post what they have. i do not have the time to email them.

other than that i want to choke them

Go through the links on this site Scott. I've checked out a bunch & some of their web design is phenominal. Plus, I'm pretty sure they all listed their prices up front.

Oh I know. That is my point. The breeders on here are great! It's the ones that were mentioned that do not put in the time, and those are the ones I would not trust.

couldent agree more. how do you no what they have, what are you just going to expect them to have what you are looking for?? so why waste your time emailing them.

When someone puts contact for availablity they open themselves up for a ton of mail. I used have something like "If you don't see anything available that you are looking for, please contact me via e-mail and I can give you a list of what is coming up soon, or when I might have something in the morph you are looking for." This got me a ton of e-mails, and I removed it quickly. I still get a lot of, "What's wrong with me Leo" emails, and I just tell them to come here and take them to a vet. If it's something minor I'll give them my opinion and still tell them to come here and call a vet.

Maybe they are not able to update their site and have to pay someone to do it. It may not be feasible to do this for every gecko that hatches.

If you are trying to sell something, you need to help your customers out. Everyone on this site doesn't seem to have a problem. It is not "feasible" to have to email all different breeders and hope they have what you want, and then blindly purchase them.

Well, I found someone who not only had pictures, prices, and info on the animal, but was also very polite. Needless to say he just got a payment of $1,200 from me.

Too bad these others couldn't be customer friendly. They just lost out on a very large sale.

I'm not a fan of the sites with just lists of prices and morphs. I like to see what I'm purchasing before I pay.

These other ones didn't even have that. You click the tab that says available and it goes to a blank page saying contact me. Then when you do, they ignore you or send a stupid reply.

They all lost money because of that.

The wife only allows one large purchase a year.

But that doesn't mean I couldn't do several smaller ones. LOL.:D

I was only offering a possible explanation, I agree.

Just out of curiosity, how many people here actually design and maintain their own website?
