We got a little RAPTOR in Daytona. We were told by the breeder that he was 5 weeks old. When we got him home yesterday, he was acting fine, even ate a few meal worms. We have him set up in our hatchling rack.

Here is a pic of the setup:

I apologize about the quality of the pics, Mel took them with her phone.

Needless to say, he will be going to a vet. We just need to know if anyone has any ideas of what it could be and what we can do.

That looks a lot like pictures I have seen of internal bleeding, if it is then he will probably not make it through the night. :( Hopefully it is something else.

With internal bleeding they can act normal right up until the last couple hours. Unfortunately that's what it looks like to me too.

My first hatchling hatched with an abomen looking similar to that one. He's about 9 or 10 weeks now, and his abdomen looks fine. I think a lot of hatchlings hatch with very dark looking abdomens. If he's eating okay, and pooping okay, i'd say this little one SHOULD be alright.

I am hoping this is the case. I can't answer if it has been to the vet or not, as he is with Mel and I have been at work all day.

He is still hanging in there. Still eating like a champ and pooping regularly. Called the vet, vet said as long as he is bright and alert, eating and pooping than there isn't much to be done. So, he said to call him back if things took a turn for the worse, otherwise just keep up good husbandry. I'm really hoping that he turns out ok.

Good to hear, hopefully he continues to do well.

His color has just traveled to the lower abdomen still the same color. Am I really just being retarded and staring at organs and freaking out? It is a five week old raptor... Basically transparent, lol. Anyways, thanks for everyones input and support! I will keep you posted =]

mine has the same thing but i am thinking it might be bruising.

Yours has two obvious fat pads in the lower abdomen, while her gecko does not, which is a bit concerning.

However, without doing an ultrasound or something of the like, which isn't feasible obviously, I really think that if it's eating, drinking, pooping, peeing, and shedding normally, it should be perfectly fine. You may very well be just looking at organs. Babies that young tend to have very strange looking abdomens. Both geckos i've hatched this season have had darkish abdomens, and both are thriving.
