questions about a second level

I built a wooden second level for my gecko. I put it in the tank and it looks great but the crickets are finding it to be a safe haven from my gecko. They tend to go straight to it and climb up the legs and hide on the underside. Does anyone have any ideas on what i can do to it to make it slippery so that they cant climb on it or should I just take it out?

Yea. I'd seal it with a glass sealer. I too have a second story for my leos. They love it up there. May I ask, what are you useing for a ladder?

Are the crickets climbing up via a vertical flat surface? If so, you can just wrap the area with clear masking tape. Crickets can't grip on those and the clear tape won't affect the look of your second level.

I get crickets that get between the 2 tiles that make up the floor of my upstairs and I just let them stay there. SOmetimes they go in the lay box and breed and then there's more crickets for me.
