Lol...unless I can attach a printer to mine and my father's brain, no there are sadly no blue prints :( I basically had it all figured out in my head, told him what I wanted, and he ran with it. We bought all the tubs prior to constructing the rack, so those acted as a guide. It's REALLY easy to do.

I am in awe, that looks amazing. ;)
I asked my boyfriend if he would make me my rack once I decide to venture into breeding. Unfortunetly he is not a skilled wood worker, to put it politely, lol. He went to college for electrical so at least he can do the wiring. So I have no idea what I should do about getting a rack made. :(
I think making it would be the easier way to go about it, that way measurements can be exactly the way I need them. :main_yes:

I am thinking of attempting to make it myself... but I don't know if I trust myself to do it either, lol!

:2thumbsup: Heather, again awesome rack. What did you use to seal the Birchwood?

Thanks Thad :)

I used McCloskey Special Effects Clear Coat in Satin. It's expensive, but is child safe, therefore *I figured* safe to use on the rack, being that I'd be heating it up, and wanted to be sure no smells or anything were being emitted. I thought about a stain, but didn't want to "ruin" the pretty birch!

I also looked into bees wax finishes, but found that most of them needed to be reapplied yearly.

I never really liked the ideas of racks they always seemed so impersonal to me but I really like yours. Its so organized and the bins you used are great. I like that fact that you can see through them letting you view your leos the same way as if they were in the glass tank.

Thanks Tim, thanks Liz :)

I really enjoy the rack more than I thought I would. It's so hard going from glass tanks to tubs in a rack...you feel almost bad for the geckos. What makes it better is knowing they are getting a more constant, perfectly correct heat, and they ALL are getting equal opportunities at eating. Can you imagine me having 12 individual tanks?! The geckos honestly seem to not mind the smaller spaces in the least. Like you said Liz, visibility is not an issue, as the IRIS tubs are relatively see-through. It's so cute at night to go in there and see them all at the front of their tubs like "Mom, I know it's dinner time! I know it is!"

And organized...Liz you need to see my house. I'm an organizational fool! Everything is lined up, in rows perfectly. I drive myself crazy sometimes with it!!

I'm like that at times and when its out of place I feel rage :main_huh:

Do you have links for the breeding tubs at the bottom? I really like those.

Lol I had 8 years of it. 4 of which were spent at a predominantly Spanish speaking school. I was 1 of 11 English speaking students. It's amazing how quickly you learn it when that's all you hear, and all your friends can speak!!!

Sadly, I've lost a lot of it due to never needing to use it, but our Spanish customers like it a lot when I talk to them...so it's coming back!
