Sunglow and hybino mean the same thing and are interchangeable. Sometimes Bells are labeled as Sunglows, or Trempers as Hybinos. Rainwaters also can be marked either way. I personally prefer Sunglow because it's common for combo morphs of hypo and albinos to be called Sunglows in other species, like boas.

+1, I think hybino should become an obsolete term. Sunglow is a more universally used term for hypo and albino combination. There is no reason leopard geckos should be different. Not to mention hybino doesn't sound near as attractive as Sunglow. IMO

I STRONGLY disagree! :main_angry:

You'd be surprised to find out who originated that name. And, so you don't have to guess...! ;) Also, it's kind of a compound word. If you understand that, "Hybino" makes far more sense than "Sunglow".

Kelli, regardless what ANYONE else thinks, I think the name has a good "ring". :main_yes:

It doesn't really matter who coined the terms, while hybino may be a more descriptive, sunglow is a more universal term through out reptiles. It would have also been easier if the name "snow" had been saved for Axanthic Albinos, as it's used for that morph combo in corn snakes, ball pythons, boas, etc. It makes it easier for people who are interested in more than one species of herp.

In reality, neither term is going any where, and we just need to deal with the confusion as best we can. Hind sight is 20/20.

Not exactly the strongest argument. I mean look ... We're dealing with leopard geckos here, and not redtail boas. I think the term "Hybino" is very descriptive. And to remember what albino strain to relate which morph name to doesn't seem like a huge problem. Why should the entire hobby change naming conventions because some have problems making distinctions? It's an aspect of the hobby you have to get used to. Simple as that.

I agree. For me, Sunglow has always referred to TremperXSHTCTB(specifically TUG's Sunglow line) and the cross referencing of the term to all SHTCTB/Albino crosses just confuses people further. I personally feel that labeling BellXSHTCTB as Hybino is much easier than labeling all crosses as "Sunglows" as well as labeling rainwaterXSHTCTB as "Rainwater Hybino." Better yet, just call them all "Insert Albino strain here" Hybinos and doing away with Sunglow other than when referring to TUG's line. Just my opinion.

*** kisser much? xD

Sunglow is a more popular name for it, imo. I see sunglows more than Hybinos. As far as I knew when posting this thread that Sunglow's were for Trempers, and Hybinos were for Bells. Trempers are more popular so I see Sunglows everywhere. I've seen Rainwater Sunglows, and Rainwater Hybinos, and Firewaters, and SHTCTB Rainwaters, etc. But I was unsure if there was an exact name.

I actually didn't come up with the term "Hybino". It was first used by Ray Hine, who produced the first Tremper Super Hypo Carrot Tail back in the early 2000's. I respected that and therefore kept the name "Hybino" when I produced the first Bell Super Hypo Carrot Tail.

If you'd spent any decent amount of time on these forums, you'd know that's not me. That's simply not in my nature. ;) I'm pretty much a "call it like it is" kinda guy, regardless of who you are.

I simply like the morph name "Hybino", so don't hate! :pimp2:

Actually I haven't spent much time on here at all. I don't even have my own internet. For now it's borrowing the internet from my neighbor downstairs, but she doesn't mind (I hope not <.<). At least for now while I pay for half of it! xD I had a few questions for her last week and she told me to sign up on here since the forum she's on isn't well established yet. Sorry .
